Freestyle Gymnastics Level 2 Add on Module

As a level 2 coach you will be able to work independently to help participants develop their skills, strength and co-ordination. You are able to lead your own sessions and mentor and oversee fellow coaches. Building on experience gained during the level 1 qualification you will develop the skills to support a variety of exhilarating wallspins, kicks and twists. You will learn how to structure freestyle sessions and implement skills within a safe environment.

You will need to have already completed a UKCC Level 2 Certificate in any discipline.

Who is this Aimed at:

Coaches and Teachers who hold a British Gymnastics coach or teacher qualification who wish to set up freestyle sessions within their club. See pre-requisites for further details.

What To Expect:

An informative course to provide a broad introduction to freestyle gymnastics, explaining the techniques behind some of the more widely practised skills within freestyle.

Delivery Method:

6 hours - 2.5 hours Theory, 3.5 hours Practical

Do I Need To Bring Participants:

No, learners will be invited to participate in demonstrations and activities during the course. Please notify the course tutor if you are unable to participate.

Do I Need To Find A Mentor:

No mentor is required for this course.

Price:

£75 for British Gymnastics members (£110 for non BG members).

Outcomes:

At the end of the course learners will be able to: 

  • Provide a broad introduction to freestyle gymnastics
  • Explain techniques behind some of the more widely practised skills
  • Communicate some of the differences between a traditional gymnastics class and a freestyle gymnastics class

Learner must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course

  • Introduction to freestyle philosophy

  • Safety and welfare 

Practical Delivery:

  • Safety roll

Basic Vaults Skills:

  • Monkey/kong vault
  • Speed vault
  • Dash vault

Floor Skills:

  • L-kick/au batido
  • Kip up
  • Butterfly kick
  • Palm/wallspin
  • Precisions
  • Tornado kick
  • 540° kick

Assessment Method:

On course assessment.

How Long Until I Am Fully Qualified:

Certificate of attendance will be issued at the end of the course.
