Who is this Aimed at:
This course is for those wishing to coach more challenging skills and exercises on DMT. To enrol on this course, you must:
- Have attended (as a minimum) or hold the Level 3 Coaching Theory qualification (or equivalent).
- Hold the DMT Club Coach (Cycle 5, 6 or 7) or one of the pre-requisite awards as outlined in the pre-requisites tab.
- Be 18 years of age.
What To Expect:
This is a blended course with the following components:
1. 2 days face-to-face practical:
- Day 1: 8 hours
- Day 2: 8 hours
2. Online self-paced learning accessed via BG Academy
3. 15-minute skill development video assessment (coaching in own environment)
4. Practical assessment
Do I Need To Bring Participants:
Yes you are required to provide gymnasts for both the course and assessment.
- For the course, we recommend you bring 1 gymnast. They need to be ready to work preparations and progressions for the skills on the Syllabus and should be competent at barani mount.
- For the assessment, you need to bring 2 gymnasts. At least 1 gymnast must be able to
demonstrate the full skills.
Do I Need To Find A Mentor:
You do not need a Mentor to complete this course and assessment. However, we support seeking guidance from more qualified and experienced coaches in your discipline to aid your development through the course, assessment and beyond.
What Resources Are Included:
You will be provided with a variety of online learning and resources. You may also wish to bring note taking material with you to the practical course days.

Outcomes:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate exemplary standards regarding Duty of Care.
- Create safe and positive environments for all, encouraging two-way communication, collaboration and demonstrating qualities such as empathy, compassion, and care.
- Explain the prerequisites and implement appropriate physical preparation activities required to safely develop skills on the Syllabus.
- Explain key biomechanical principles and subsequently utilise relevant techniques that underpin the safe performance of skills on the Syllabus.
- Select, justify, and utilise a range of progressions to safely develop skills on the Syllabus.
- Demonstrate robust professional judgement to maintain a safe environment with regards to the safe use of equipment and training aids and gymnast progression.
- Explain and execute (if appropriate) the safe manual supporting techniques for the skills on the Syllabus.
- Demonstrate the effective use of coaching skills such as instruction, demonstration, observation, analysis, and feedback.
- Critically discuss key discipline-specific topics such as: developing an effective approach to the DMT, exercise construction, calculating difficulty and planning and periodisation for DMT.
Learner must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course

The assessment for this course has two parts:
1. Submission of a 15-minute skill development video recorded in your own coaching environment prior to your practical assessment.
2. Face-to-face practical assessment lasting 1 hour and 25 minutes.

Appropriate Gymnasts – For the practical assessment you are expected to bring 2 gymnasts who you have spent time with developing the required skills. Gymnasts can be at varying levels in the skill development process and should be able to show the planned physical preparation activities and progressions. At least 1 gymnast must be able to demonstrate the full skills.
