As a further measure in our aim to provide safe, effective, child-friendly Clubs, British Gymnastics is introducing a stipulation that Coaches’ Insurance will only be valid whilst Coaching in a British Gymnastics recognised environment ie a British Gymnastics Registered Club, Local Education Authority, Local Authority facility or other organisation where there is a comparable duty of care.
Would this mean you couldn't coach in a University Club that was under BUSA but not BG? Or is that an "other organisation where there is a comparable duty of care"?
How do you find out? And who decides?

So if BG are now stipulating what is to be covered by the insurance does that mean they are making a saving, and are they going to pass that on?
I know that on my house insurance if you don`t want say for example, bicycles to be insured the premium is reduced to take that into effect.
Has BG just turned in to a giant moneymaking machine?

I'm still trying to work out ( ) what I got for my £14 affiliation fee. Insurance? I sit at a table judging.
I did get a cloth badge and membership card though - gave the cloth badge to my daughter because she doesn't get one any more (much to her disgust: she's been collecting them since she was 5 and only missed the 1993 one because she changed clubs. Her old club got her "goodies" and didn't pass them on and her new club had no spare ones to give her. Anyone got a 1993 cloth badge?).

From my point of view, it's now a purely hypothetical question, but I was just wondering.
BG boast that their restrictions save us money as we don't have to pay more to other insurers without such restrictions, but it doesn't save money for anyone that finds themselves not covered part of the time and having to pay both.
It also risks placing coaches in a legally ambiguous situation, unless their requirements are going to be specified more clearly elsewhere. And if they have drafted their specific requirements, it must have cost a bit to get a lawyer to do so?
Anita, well, you never know. If you were judging me and I did try a somersault, the table might not be far enough away:) Nope. Forget that - I wouldn't have enough height to travel:D
