Why isn't the forum non-members could post in visible?
The most common use was people wanting to find classes, so by the very nature of things people posting would be people who aren't yet members of BG who can register for the forum, but the questions aren't something we should want to discourage!
If the reason is time problems with moderation and removing spam, then I'm sure help could be arranged!

I am begining to wonder if its a form of censorship, to stop the negative posts about membership?????

..they could try to address the problems that people keep complaining about that might stop the complaints! The membership system has been poor for a long time but we have no choice they are the governing body. Personally I would prefer to have nothing to do with them as they seem so poorly run but there is no alternative.

Most people that have problems with BG will be members, so they will still be able to complain.
The only thing I can think of that gets cut out is the frequent enquiries from people who want to start gymnastics (and thus become members), which is an unfortunate effect to bring about.
In terms of BG... yes, I wish they could become more efficient. It strikes me that they perform a task exactly duplicated by governing bodies for other sports. Perhaps the answer is for the governing body of one sport (whichever one has the happiest members) to set up a proper and efficient system for managing the memberships of lots of bodies (preferably ones with different year ends). This would let one body develop expertise and proper systems and deal with a steady amount of work over the whole year..
BG have made big efforts, but ultimately it's still not good... for example, why lose the benefit of having an online system by making it so you can't renew until the old membership runs out?
They seem to be a slow ship to turn round, maybe they will get there eventually. About six years ago I begged them to let me do an online club database for them. While they never took me up on it, at least they do now finally have one themselves.
I wonder how the cheerleading people are finding things. I can't wait until someone finally blesses the new sub-forum to ask them!

I was an unregistered member and I complained about the membership problems. BG requested my club information which I sent them and after that the forum seemed to close? Did I upset them with my remarks regarding delays in the posting of membership packs? I have now become a member so they can't stop me now!

Oh well. The forum as it now is perfectly represents the modern sports governing body. It is tightly regulated, ultra safe, and a result a completely sterile shadow of what it once was. It doesn't provide the service it once used to and it therefore leaves people to go to other places where people are doing things for themselves in order to have the old thing.
The other sites are of course, not having a governing body behind them, less safe and regulated than this place used to be before it died. So overall everyone loses out.
But who are we to say anything?
But of course I'll repeat that I'm happy to help moderate and delete the viagra spam if they want to open up the forum again, if BG's staff are too busy to pop in here often enough on account of dealing with the latest government initiative to install vast quantities of paperwork.

Surely you're not implying that there is no regular contact are you Gingerheid...?
Seriously, this forum is no where as busy as it used to be; you only need look at the dates on the main page - half are not even from this year!

And some aren't even from last year!
The old board used to be very active though.
