I've just read the supplement with the gym mag explaining the hike in membership fees, and I'm a little bit worried. It seems to be full of an awful lot of politician-style empty-speak.

There's an awful lot of New Labour style stuff about modernisation. They say modern because people automatically think modern's good. But gymnastics to me isn't something like a house or car that can be either old-fashioned or modern. What exactly is 'modern' gymnastics?

It's just, whenever people use 'modernisation' out of context, they're usually not talking about making things better. Back home they are 'modernising' the NHS by closing a hospital...

There's a few things we can work out about 'modern' gymnastics. We know it's more expensive, and that we get less for our money. We also know it's more bureaucratic. It's also more restrictive. Is there anything else we should know about it?

Hi Gingerheid, must admit I agree with you and it seems there is a bit of empire building going on [not necessarily B.G`s fault for once] as it appears we have someone for ethics/ethnics and aquiring a child protection person by order of the weak willed namby pamby govermental P.C. lobby. I think it was said somewhere that the meek shall inherit the british Isles[slight spin]http://www.british-gymnastics.org/memberforum/images/icons/icon12.gif well they`re making a right mess of it and we want it back!!!http://www.british-gymnastics.org/memberforum/images/icons/icon8.gif
