Hi Everyone

Just thought I'd ask about the Pre-School forum or lack of it........

Where did it go???

I take it it still comes under what was 'General Gymnastics - Inc Festivals, Gymnaestrada, TeamGym, Pre-School', even though it's only called 'General Gymnastics' these days!

Does anyone remember when BGA first recognised the Pre-school Gymnastics and Movement Programme - Gym Joey and the fact that the membership to the BGA for this age group (under 5) was "NON OBLIGATORY"?

When did it become Obligatory?

How are the new rules going to affect groups that just work a little Pre-school class in the Church Hall once a week?

Coaches took their awards safe in the knowledge that their membership would cover them - not so now though. Are they going to change the name of their group, take out their own insurance and say "TA TA" BGA?

It is different for the coaches who do this as a living and have their own premises I can understand how BGA would want to get their hands on these memberships but to penalise the non-profit making volunteer groups does not seem a good public relations exercise to me.

For £70 a year you can hold membership of the SportsCoach (NCF) and be covered in all aspects of your coaching. This may be the road for these people to take and work under a different aspect of "Child Care" such a the National Playgroup Associations.

I do not think BGA are doing themselves any favours in this area of "gymnastics" and the government should be looking into how they are making it even more difficult to "encourage young children to become and stay more active in their lifestyle".

I think it is time to take this area out of the realm of the BGA and all other G B of S who are intending to cash in at this level.

We could create a Federation of Body Management Skills for Pre-school Children or
The PAMPERS Group = Pre-school Activity Movement Programme of Exercises, Recreative and Social. Think they would be interested in sponsoring a group like this? Good advertising I would think. How to become a Pampers Coach.

Or the "I CAN DO" Pre-school Movement Group - no on second thoughts - maybe not Movement Group for this one. "I CAN DO" Pre-school Activity Group that's better! Another Sponsor in the offing?

Don't suppose the BGA think this area of gymnastics is worth much of a mention for sponsors so why don't we just show them how to do it?
