Since I started back, I've been bouncing for about three years. But you know, come to think of it, I'm not too sure I could say I've ever done it properly either!

was tempted there for a sec to ask what someone considered "properly" was... but lets not go there... or shall i?!

What do you think trampolining "properly" is? When i say it I mean that I've never competed, or in fact turned up to a session more than twice in a row and have done it for the pure fun of it.

ah no!! complicated questions!!

To me, "properly" is not landing every front somy you've ever tried on your backside! :D

Sian

LOL!! :D i suppose that is a much simpler definition!!

Gingerheid

I suppose I should also suggest, in reply to the serious point, that 'properly' is regularly for a period of time, with definate aims regarding progression?

Sian

yeah, well one thing is for sure, i havent done it regularly, or over a long period of time so therefore i have no aims/goals :( and i can certainly land on my backside fairly often!!

Actually, now I start to think about it, there's a whole lot of meanings of proper. The one above was 'proper' training!

Proper 'trampolining' could also where somebody goes to a class and there's only one person on the trampoline at a time, they try and bounce on the cross as opposed to trying to use all corners of the bed...

ie not what you'd do at a birthday party or maybe in your back garden.

Or maybe I should give up. Maybe it's not possible to say what the proper meaning of proper is! :)

Maybe not... its one of them words!! But as least we did get the forum going, even if it was just between me and Gingerheid!!

Nice picture Gingerheid! Took me a while to work out how to land a front somi on my feet (I kept landing on my bum for a while too and sometimes even worse - on my back!) :o

This is a tip for it - as my coach says ... STRETCH!

Come on Gingerheid, you can do it! :)

What's worse is I'm a coach too, so I know exactly what I'm doing wrong, and nag at people for the same.

But it's no use saying "Stretch! Move your shoulders slightly back just after take off! Rise into it! Do the move at the top of the bounce!" etc if your brain is saying "Panic! Screw your eyes shut! Chuck your shoulders down to the floor under the tramp the moment you take off! Do the somy round yer ankles!" :)

My problem is that I always over-rotate... and go splat on my face...

Same here! I suppose learning double fronts on trampette doesn't help tho! :D Now I'm just used to that feeling, single somis on trampoline are pretty much a no-go!

It's really annoying when you know what you're doing wrong but can't correct it isn't it. Even more when some well meaning spotter keeps pointing it out.....

I used to over rotate because I used to open up out of my somi too soon and my feet would just whip right back behind me, so I've landed splat on my face a few times too! Not very pleasant (I got a burn on my forehead once!!) I've managed to stop it now by opening out later but when I do a front somi straight after doing a back somi I still land on my face sometimes.

Sometimes when I do a back somi straight into barani I over rotate as well and land on my back. I whacked my head on the edge of the trampoline once doing this - it gave me a headache! (My baranis are fine if I do them with a tuck jump instead of a back somi before them).

But I'm getting there :p

That could go for anything... the constant now if I was to do it a little bit different and do such and such it would be perfect... But somehow that little bit can never be done!!

As long as there is a mat there. I've no problems generally with front landings but you know thats going to hurt when it goes wrong
