What with everyone disappearing for summer ( i say summer but there wasnt one this year ) the forum has become extremly quiet...... So to try and kick start us all off again how is everyone ? and what did you all get up to over the summer ?

I'm fine, thank you for asking Dave! Don't like to ask how you are 'cos I know your injury has flared back up again, but I will anyway ... how's it going? Any sign of improvement yet?

As for my daughter, she's got a NW comp this coming Saturday, she's been training really hard for it for the last few weeks and has been injury free for a change ... up until yesterday afternoon when she went to her auntie's after training, sat on the settee and put her foot up underneath her ... and pulled a muscle in her bum! She can hardly walk today and is panicking about missing training tonight because of the comp on Saturday!

Anyway, got to go now, we've just got my boys a new toy box, they've managed to empty all the toys out of it, one of them climbed in a couple of minutes ago and the other promptly closed the lid and sat on it so the other couldn't get out ... so it's mum to the rescue to act as referee before they kill each other!

Thanks for asking Jaye at the moment im full of optimism regarding the injury, i was training not saturday just gone but the saturday before and i left the gym nearly an hour early and nearly in tears as i was in total agaony and it hurt to walk... So i went back to physio and also to a specialiast foot shop called the " Sweatshop" they made me run over a pressure pad and it analysed my feet and i was over pronating and putting too much pressure on my lower legs which was causing the problems so i now have a new pair of trainers which are designed to for my type of feet ( Which cost a pretty penny ), i was also advised to get some orthics to which i went and brought some for my work shoes, and by wearing these all week and taking my pain killers my injury has cleared up alot its not fully recovered and back to normal but things are progressing very well at the moment ( Just hope it lasts, im not up to full training and i doubt i will be for at least 2 months ).....

I Hope your daughter gets better before her comp and does well, its always the way though you finally get injury free and then you get another slight injury doing somthing where you wouldnt expect to get an injury.... It sounds like your having loads of fun with the boys.... Ah well they are only young boys and if they didnt make a noise and destory everything in sight you'd be worried as to what they are plotting and why they are so quiet....

Well people were on holiday this summer (and yes there was a summer!) and now many people are back at work (or still at work if they didn't get time off :() or like me, back at college, school whatever. My summer was good though, finished early due to GCSEs, then went to Florida, then Devon, then stayed at home and relaxed for a few weeks :)

DJC - Florida ... I am soooooo jealous :p We went to Stratford! The weather was brilliant the week we went (we managed to get that sunny week at the beginning of August) and we all had a great time. My daughter spent most of her time (and my money) on a bungee trampoline and got her name on the records board by the end of the week for doing a triple somi!

Talking of daughter, that is so true Dave about getting an injury from somewhere you don't expect ... like sitting on your auntie's settee! She's just come back from school and she feels a lot better now, and after trying a couple of japanas in her bedroom to stretch her bum muscle(!) without too much discomfort she says she's fit for gym tonight.

Where is that place you mentioned Dave - "Sweatshop"? Is is a 'one-off' place near you or are they spread around the country. My daughter has already been diagnosed as having over-flexible feet and is due to be measured up for her orthotics over the next week or so (see her thread 'Aching Limbs'!), but that making you run on a pressure pad sounds excellent because her running does cause her a great many problems, she has absolutely no power in her run (probably a very good reason why vault is her worst piece) and this has been put down to her pronating and over flexible feet, she tends to run flat footed with no bounce at all - it may be useful to find somewhere like that to see exactly where she is putting pressure when she runs rather than the podiatrist just wiggling her feet about.

DJC i disagree there was no summer, We had a lovely June i grant you that and most of July was rainy with the exception of a week and August was the wettest auguest on record in 80 odd years off recording the weather......

Jaye,
yeah i know the aching limbs thread i posted in it several times, the sweatshop i went to was in Teddington, Middlesex, but they do have several shops around around the UK i understand i have put the link in to the shop below if you click on " Shop Directory " it will provide you with a drop down box of where there stores are located....

http://www.sweatshop.co.uk

Hope your Daughter isnt rushing herself back to quickly after her minor setback ?? might be an idea for her to take it easy tonight so she doesnt injury herself again and rule herself out of the comp.... Anyways me nearly finished work for the day so im off home, hope there is a Sweatshop near you and they are useful to you and your daughter....

I thought there was most certainly a summer! I have been absolutely melting living down here after being in Scotland! But I've done nothing in it except have a nerve-wracking start in a new job... well, I did have a day trip to Cambridge!

On the subject of the forum being quiet, I had been a bit worried that there didn't seem to have been any posts from non members for a few weeks, but they all seem to have appeared today!

Jaye

I'd noticed the non-members seemed to have gone quiet ... apart from quite a few asking for adult gym clubs! How close are we to getting that directory?!

I shall check out the Sweatshop link after I come off the forum, thanks Dave! She went to gym last night feeling a lot better, but when she did a warm-up round-off she said it pulled a bit again, so she did the sensible thing and didn't do any more, and certainly no round-off flics. She did her floor with just the leaps and stuff in it and then went on to bars to practice some upstarts and sole circles. She has a rest tonight which is good, trampolining tomorrow but only for one hour, then two hours of gym on Thursday (last session before the comp on Saturday!) She has a rest again on Friday night which is good for the day before the comp so hopefully her bum'll make a full recovery for weekend

Hi Dave - have just had a look on the site, there are two Sweatshops in the NW, one in Chorley (about 45 mins from where we live) and one near Blackpool (about an hour away). Think I might take a trip to one during Kay's half term (end of next month), could be useful!

Good luck with your quest to get back training ...

Nice to see the forum is still attracting new users, Welcome to the forum Kelly

Hi Kelly! Good to see you on the BG forum ... I've seen your posts on the Welcome To site (many, many, many of them!!) and yes, I can vouch for you, this forum will never be the same again ... Anita watch out, your Grand Anorak status will seriously be in jeopardy with Kelly around :D

We're NW based so nowhere near Park Wrekin I'm afraid, but my daughter (KayJ) is a big fan of Becky Owen - do you know her?

My daughter is 9 and does gymnastics (at novice level) and trampoline (G4 tramp and DMT). I'm a gymnastics coach who doesn't get time to coach these days because I have tearaway little three year old twin boys to try and control instead!

Indeed... and at least nobody can steal your name here!

Jasmine Lee
17th September 2004, 04:52 PM
Yes Kelly no-one will pinch our names and because the site is registered hopefully no-one will say nasty comments. That annoys me about the other forum hopefully this one will become more popular.

Dave
17th September 2004, 04:55 PM
There are no nasty people on here thank god and Welcome to forum Jasmine Lee

Jaye
18th September 2004, 11:07 PM
Yes, hi Jasmine Lee, good to see you here - this forum did have one wee nasty bad egg for a short while, but because of this person it was revamped to this new members only forum (now traceable!) and totally administered before public viewing ... the nasty element does not now seem to have re-emerged thankfully!

I know there have been some nasty comments posted lately on Welcome To, although they do seem to have died down now ('Earl', and the 'Stephen Sampson' thread with the derogatory comments about G6 bouncers ... yes I think all Welcome To forum users have seen those threads!), hopefully nasties like that won't appear on here, it's nice to see some Welcome To users coming onto this site!
:D

Hi & welcome Kelly & Jasmine Lee.

Dave - perhaps it went quiet because I've been on holiday! Nice to know I was missed .....:) :D ;)

Lovely to see the number of members creeping up! 99 now? I wonder who the hundredth will be...

Jasmine Lee
19th September 2004, 06:44 PM
That's good then! I never used the old forum, never knew it existed until someone posted about in on the welcome to trampolining forums. It's such a shame when people decide to insult other people's efforts and achievements, particularly the comments about the grade 6 bouncers. We all have to start there, or at the standard. It was disappointing because the younger ones will look up to the higher grades for inspiration, if they feel like that it sets a negative atmosphere and maybe deterr beginners.

Kelly Jordan
19th September 2004, 07:17 PM
It's reassuring to know that there are no 'nasties' on this forum ... And also that there won't be any 'name-nickers' either!!!
Whoever asked ... Yes i do like exclamation marks, but there has to be 3 or 5!!!
Lol!!!
Nice to see this forum is lovely jubbly and bubbly like 'Welcome To'
Also that there are people from all over the place!!!
And yes I did know Becky Owen from when I trained there :)
Sorry this is a bit of a blunt message, but Ihaven't actually been on the internet for 2 or 3 days, and now I'm trying to remember all the posts on this thread and reply to them all in one message!!!
Erm I can't remember what else I said before, or what you lot have said, so I guess I'll have to keep reading and adding messages for whatever I missed out!!!
Thanks for being so welcoming everyone :)
And 'Hey!!!' to Jasmine too :)
Speak to you all soon!!!
Luv Kel!!!

Good luck to her!!!

Im sure now Anita is back from her hols the forum will pick up:p

Did you go anywhere nice Anita ?

Thanks for the comment about KayJ ... she'll be dead chuffed when I tell her! She bounces for Stockport - she's just found out the DMT has been cancelled at the next grades on 3rd Oct, she was looking forward to doing that too 'cos she's never competed DMT before :(

She has a real problem between her gym and tramp because the clubs both train on the same 4 days (Mon, Thurs, Sat, Sun!!) She goes to a recreational tramp class on a Wednesday to make up for the other times she misses though when she's at gym.

She's missed quite a few tramp sessions lately 'cos she's been concentrating so hard on her gym 'cos she had a NW comp last weekend, but with her tramp G4 in a couple of weeks she's putting the hours into her bouncing now - she's been scoring 8.0's in the gym with her routines, if she manages that for both her set and vol, plus her 2.6 tariff, she should do it 'cos qualifying score is 49.5 (hopefully nothing will go wrong on the day ... fingers crossed!!) She'll be U13 next year, she can do all the moves to do the U13 G3 so she really wants to qualify!

Oh yes, my twins are gorgeous, but they are a handful ... they've just started nursery so I get a bit of time on my hands now for the first time in over 3 years! :) I still miss coaching gym though, which is impossible with them running riot around the gym ... but they're going to start recreational next June when they're 4, and they'll be starting bouncing the year after when they're 5 (minimum age at KayJ's club)! One of the boys is fearless, goes for anything, I reckon he'll be a really good bouncer! The other one is a bit more cautious and thoughtful, he'll probably be better technically ...

HI Dave

Went to Devon for a week with my hubby - left the girls at home! Couldn't believe my eyes when I got back the kitchen was clean and tidy! Which is more than could be said for the lounge and dining room ...... but you can't have everything.

Had a lovely relaxing week, did plenty of walking (and eating). Weighed myself on Sunday - I've lost a stone in 10 days. Maybe now I should start dieting to try and lose some more (lol). The weather wasn't brilliant but only got wet once (it tended to poor down overnight). The only problem with the holiday was I had to come home and go back to work.

Walked into the office today, took one look ! and felt like going home - I'd left it really tidy and organised but it looked like a bomb had hit it. There were piles of files all over the floor as well as filling my spare table - and a 2-3 ft pile of unopened post on the desk.

Need a holiday now to recover from going back to work.:p

She is doing superbly and good luck to her!!!
I really hope she does qualify for Grade 3, and if everything goes ok it sounds like she will!!!
Similarly to KayJ, some of my other sports clash with trampolining, so i have to try and balance it out, aswell as fit it all in with my Mum's and Dad's work, as getting a lift in time can sometimes be a problem!!!
But for the 2 weeks before a comp i go to all the sessions i can manage!!!
I used to miss the gym quite soon after i left, but now i just love my trampolining too much and don't really think about gym anymore!!!
It has been 6 years though so hey!!!
Lol!!!
Aww and bless your little twins!!!
How cute!!!
I'm sure they will be able to do wonderful syncro together!!!
Will you go and coach gym again when they start rec group???
Do you actually do any gym or trampolining yourself Jaye???
Luv Kel!!!
