View Full Version : Injuries :S ...

I have had many injuries and sadly counted over 50 visits to the hopstial - i am nearly 15, and haven't been in over a year, so that sort of shows how often i was up there before!!!
But after 3hrs trampolining Sunday morning, and then getting back home to play in the finals of the U17 girls tennis tournament, i found my right hand kept freezing up and hurt SO badly in certain positions!!!
Today at school it hurt quite a lot, but i carried on writing and everything, and tonight i even went to training.
But i couldn't seat drop as i yelped out in pain, by just doing one from standing!!!
The session proved quite difficult as we were supposed to be practising our sets, which mine is G4 U18 so has a seat drop in!!!
Once my coach realised that it was a waste of time me doing my routine, i did some crash dive ballouts in preparation to learn barani ballouts.
After doing a few that were ok, i managed to fling one forwards and went flying onto the mat!!!
It was an awkward landing because i had to keep my hand out of the way and try and roll onto my side!!!
By the end of the session my coach realised it wasn't too great and had a more 'serious' word with me.
He said if it's that bad i shouldn't have been training (although i train whatever!!!), and he also said i had to get it checked out and i wasn't allowed back until i did, and if i had to keep the tubi-grip on, he wanted a note from my doc confirming i was allowed to train again ...
So bascially a big bummer considering i have 3hrs training Sunday morning, and then i'm being silly and childish and having a trampolining party for my bday which will follow straight after the 3hrs!!!
Plus i have a comp on the 2nd Oct and 17th Oct!!!
What a bummer!!!
On the way home i stopped at my physio's and she took a look at my wrist for me ...
And the verdict is ...
Strained ligaments!!!
Oh how fun!!!
Rest until Sunday, with ice packs on at every opportunity, and then i can do a small amount of training on Sunday!!!
It's just typical though isn't it!!!
Luv Kel!!! (ouch it hurts!!!)

I understand completely. Just after christmas i managed to sprain my ankle 3 times in 3 weeks- basically because i didn't rest it enough. (I went back to traiing after 1 week instead of 6 :o ) Thogh this was mainly becaus i had two competitions coming up (both uni ones- BUSA and the scottish open) I missed half of a two day comp tho as the 3rd time i sprained my ankle- at a party the comp was holding, doing scottish dancing! I almost fainted (v.embarrassing) completely freaked out my friends- then they refused to let me compete the next day- so i missed all the fun syncro- we were going to be oompa loompas but my friends had to compete without me.
Then they mad eme go get my doctors permission to train- luckily my gp is very understanding and said that if i wanted to train i could- but my friends made me strap up my ankle every session for about a month afterwards
So its worth resting just to make sure you don't hurt it anymore!

wen i broke my ankle - i had it in cast - n i got rele frustrated - n stil ended up doin back bounces - ne chance to just get on a trampoline again! and then a year later i tore 2 ligaments in my foot - and had to have an ankle brace - and after a month of that - i was back on the trampoline doing more back bounces and bounce rolls - my coach cudnt keep me off(even tho i stil had the ankle brace on)! im really bad with injuries cos i cant stay away from sport

Kelly, does this mean you are not doing the competition on saturday..... that it such a shame because you have worked so hard and i know how excited you were. Will you still go to the leisure centre even if you don't compete to support your club?

I took a week off and trained 4hrs 30mins on Sunday and my wrist was ok :)
Still doing the comp, but if i didn't of course i would still go to support everyone!!!
The only grief now is from playing hockey!!!
Had to miss that for 2 weeks now :(
See you on Saturday!!!
Luv Kel!!!

Oh Dave ... poor you :( I hope you do eventually get sorted out!
And Rosh, hope your back's okay now!
And Kelly ... glad to hear your wrist is feeling better, good luck for this weekend, let us know how it goes.
And finally to KayJ (my wee one!) ... good luck for Sunday in your U11 G4! Keep the form good and you'll be fine!
Actually she's up against a few really good bouncers (like scoring 25.5 for form in past grades!!!) - KayJ's realistically aiming at getting 24.0 (3 x 8.0) plus her 2.6 tariff which should qualify her. Having said that I get so nervous on the day, I'll just be happy if she gets through both routines without falling on her bum or off the bed!!! She really wants to qualify and work towards her G3 (she'll be U13 for next year's grades and she can do the U13 G3 routine).
Oh yes, she's finally got her date for getting her orthotics fitted! She's down to see the podiatrist on 11th Oct so we'll see if she gets any improvement in her shin/heel pains then (see 'Aching Limbs' in WA for more info!)
See Ya :)

Hey everyone!!!
Well the comp kind of went good today!!!
My wrist stuck it out fine - no problems at all with it - but ...
On one of my warm-ups my knees both gave way - like i crippled myself - and i already have big problems with my knees because they are sort of twisted from walking oddly etc etc
Then my right foot went during another warm-up, and that was a bit worrying actually, especially when it made me roll right over the mat!!!
Then when i went to climb off the trampoline, i fell off TWICE!!! But was caught by my coach both times!!!
So while waiting to compete i had to go and sit down with the club and have everyone put all this gel on my foot, and feed me paracetamol!!!
Gritting my teeth all payed off though ...
I came 1st out of 10 :)
My first Grade 4!!!
So i was exceptionally pleased!!!
All i wanted to do was make it into the finals and i wasn't even sure i'd do that!!!
Until only 10 people turned up!!!
Hehehe!!!
Didn't manage to qualify though, but tomorrow or next Sunday my coach is going to sit down with me and sort out a vol and what moves i can and can't do and what i need to work on etc etc so that it's possible for me to qualify at the next comp!!!
Sorry it's so long, just had to say it all loud and proud!!!
Hehehe!!!
GOOD LUCK to everyone else competing and WELL DONE to everyone who already competed!!!
Luv Kel!!!

Sounds like you had a good competition Kelly. Well done
My comp was horrific!! I missed general warm up because i had to help marshal- did a perfect set in my controlled warm up, but crashed on the tuck back (3rd move) pulling my quads into the bargain.
Then on my vol i ended up with a tuck back on the end instead of a pike front because i lost my balance.
All in all it was a terrrible comp
(tho my finals routine wasn't too bad)

Awww bless Rosie!!!
Well done anyway.
All my warm-ups before my set were (excuse my language) totally crap!!!
My set itself was an improvement, but not great!!!
Don't worry about it though, i mean we all have times in comp where it just doesn't go right when we need it to.
Are you going to do the next grading?!?!
Or the closed comp?!?!
Luv Kel!!!

Rotten luck, is only some of the words i'd use but i can think of plenty of others:p
I made several trips to the physio and to the doctors and also to the hospital as i had x-rays ( oh the joys )
The following is cut and pasted from http://orthopedics.about.com/cs/sportsmedicine/a/tendonitis.htm
What is tendonitis? Sometimes the tendons become inflamed for a variety of reasons, and the action of pulling the muscle becomes irritating. If the normal smooth gliding motion of your tendon is impaired, the tendon will become inflamed and movement will become painful. This is called tendonitis, and literally means inflammation of the tendon.
believe me when i say Kelly its not a nice injury to have....

It's crazy but a break would probably have been better and healed quicker! Hope it does clear up in time for next year's qualifiers Dave and we get to watch you tumble again. ;)

i really sympathises Dave. I had tendonitis in both my knees a couple of years ago. And it really hurts. I was taking anti inflammatories for about 3 months before it went away. (tho maybe i should have taken a break from training too :o )
