hi all,

im just looking for advice in starting up an sa club. I am formally an artistic gymnast and have been coaching that and general for several years however at uni i was introduced to sports acro and fell in love with it! I am about to o the cocahing qualification (i did the course about two years ago but was unable to do exam cos of injury at the time).

There is very little going on in my region with sports acro at all, only a bit of schools comp and thats it so Im keen to start one up. However i ma looking for advice in terms of actually starting it. How does a typical sports acro class run? How do you partner off the kids? What do u look for in terms of talent? how much time do you spend on agilities etc and how much on balances etc? How often should they train? I know I will find out some stuff on the course obviously but im interested to know what you guys think...acro is a world away from artistic!

thanks

Hi Beth

What region are you in?

I will check things out with our club to see how they organise things and for advise and will contact you again.

If you do get other advice from elsewhere I'd be obliged if you could let me know (our club has been established 18 years so Tracy might not remember how to start up!). My daughter is at Uni and her final year project is making a DVD on acro, specifically aimed at starting up, new clubs and NDP progression up to Int 3 so any advice you're given would be useful to her. If the DVD is good enough it might be marketable for people like yourself.

dear anita,

thanks for replying.

I'm in the north of england but quite a way from newcastle which is the nearest acro club.

Your daughters dvd sounds great..any advice much appreciated!!
