View Full Version : B's on Beam

I'm working on a new beam routine and I've been changing my B's 'cos I didn't want to do a tuck jump 1/2 any more - lately I've been landing them as a sort of tuck jump 1/3! I've put in a free roll and arabesque on toe, but I was wondering does anyone know what a stretch jump full is on beam 'cos I've done that loads and stuck them when I've been messing about? (I know a stretch jump 1/2 is still an A but I can't find SJ Full in my FIG list of A and B moves).
Thanks:confused:

A straight jump 1/1 on beam is a C element.

Stretch jump 1/1 is hard to land but worth it for the C. If you're still looking for B's you could try 1 1/2 spin, straddle jump or body wave (even if it does look a bit weird). Could try variations on flic as well like Korburt and gainer

I've just found a stretch jump 1/1 in my FIG list :o (ooops)
Stretch jump 1/2 def isn't there though. My coach said it was an A - how come then that ...
Tuck jump = A
Cat leap = A
Stretch jump = A
Tuck jump full = C
Cat leap full = C
Stretch jump full = C
Tuck jump 1/2 = B
Cat leap 1/2 = B
Stretch jump 1/2 = ...... A ?????? !!!
Have I got this wrong? If not, can somebody please explain?!!!!
PS - I've got my tuck jump 1/2 back again now, so I don't need to find another B any more! :p Thanks for the replies though :D

You could have had a russian sit (or whatever everyone calls them) for a B :)

Yeah, I could but I can't do them! I've got really long legs and I find stuff like leg lifts and Russian levers hard to do (and I'm weak!) It's more like a pike lever when I do it!
I could do a squat through to pike lever mount for a B too - but I can't get my feet through on the squat through 'cos of my long shins!
So I'm back to tuck jump 1/2 and cat leap 1/2 for my 2 B's now I've got them back again. Thanks to everyone though for your suggestions :)
Also I could have done a free roll, but I don't always stick that so I wanted to do an acro that I'm sure I'll stick, like a forward roll or a cartwheel.

Well it's the big test tomorrow! Her new beam routine goes into competition with the tuck 1/2 and cat leap 1/2 as her 2 B's! She's been sticking her routine consistently in the gym the last couple of weeks and scoring it well, but all remains to be seen on the day ... I'll make sure she keeps you all informed how it goes tomorrow!
She's also working a new floor routine tomorrow (well, it's sort of her old routine with her old music but there's been a lot of changes made) ... she won gold on floor last time she did this comp last year ... fingers crossed for her for tomorrow that all goes well!

So how did the new routines go?

Well, I stuck my B's on beam but fell off on my forward roll  I always stick it in the gym. I landed it but then as I was standing up I over balanced and fell off! So, no medals there!
My floor went brilliant, except for my round-off flic again which let me down (I've watched the video of it and my legs look like they don't belong to me!) I got everything else brilliant though, all my leaps, full spin, all landed with no wobbles or steps, so I've got to start working on my r/o flic more to get my score up (I scored 8.6 on the day, I scored 9.0 last time I did that comp and won it, but I did my r/o flic loads better on that day).
Back to training again!
Good news is I've just got my sole circle on bars this week - yahay!

New question (probably for Daniel this one again) - stretch jump 3/4? Stretch jump 1/2 is an A, stretch jump full is a C - could stretch jump 3/4 be a B then 'cos I can't find any B's in Daniel's list for stretch jumps
And what about tuck jumps? I know I'll probably never do anything more than a tuck jump 1/2 myself on beam, but tuck is an A, tuck 1/2 is a B, tuck full is a D, what's happened to the C? Could that be a tuck 3/4?
Or am I just making up my own moves now!!!!! :D
By the way, I've just been working on korbut flics on floor, although I think that's probably been more as a practice to get my normal flic right! But I think I'll probably be able to get a korbut flic on beam before I get my normal flic on beam!

They keep downgrading all the moves I want to do! I used to like doing W jump on beam but that's only an A now so it's not worth putting in any more 'cos after all the special requirements have been put in my routine I've used up all my A's then.
What about squat through to pike lever mount? Is that still a B or does it havve to be a squat through to russian lever to be a B?
