We need more threads here in TRA! ;)
So let's start a silly one ...
Which do you like doing best - front somi or back somi?
I like doing back somis (depending what kind of mood I'm in), but loads at my club hate doing them.
(I like doing baranis too).

I prefer front, but then that's all I can do...
I know a lot of people say backs are easier, but they don't look it to me!

That's a tough one! If I'm having a good day then I'd say back somi's but if I'm having a bad day then I'll be quite happy throwing front somi's. Baranis are the best tho!

Back definitely and I'm dying to learn doubles but lack of rig time puts paid to that one. I also want to learn 1n3 but don't dare go for it so have amused myself learning fulls instead and am just starting to try and get my head round rudis ( I don't think I'm much of a natural twister!).

Fronts and baranis are piles easier than backs.

No I don't think you're supposed to shut your eyes Rosh!
Elliot, I know what you mean 'cos I learned front somis first and then baranis before I learned my back somis, so they must be easier to do! It's just now I can do back somis I really enjoy them, especially as dismount off DMT (and I'm learning them on the DMT as my first move now as well - can't do it straight away yet though, I have to do 2 bounces before it)

One of the reasons why I couldn't let anyone I coached see me trying somersaults myself! I did them for shutting their eyes, because I knew what an awful effect never being able to stop doing it had on mine!

I think you should have a go at back somies Gingerheid, you might surprise yourself at how much easier they can be to land, but they are only easier if you have your eyes open:D

Maybe I'll try them if I find a new club down here :) No promises, mind. I'm a big fearty :o (There'd have to be someone that I really trusted supporting...)
But until then, there's been no replies to e-mails enquiring about adult tramp from either of the clubs I can find here. Plan two (once the flat resembles something more habitable) might have to be to turn up at them and try and collar someone to ask!

Where are you looking?

Either Aylesbury itself or somewhere you can get to from it without a car. (Milton Keynes has a place but you can't get back from it at night).
But lacklustre Grade 6 routines and extremely dodgy chucked somersaults could possibly be making their way to Oxford soon! Found out today that there is a club there I might be able to go to, but I'd also have to be able to skive of my work sort of earlyish on a Wednesday. Haven't started at my new office yet, so don't know what their idea of flexi time is like!
Other than that, I will be getting a car as soon as I can!

Try asking at the University club if there aren't any other local clubs about.

It is indeed Oxford University that I think may be my last hope! Fingers, toes and everything else crossed that I'll be able to get away from my work from time to time :)
If not, my days of being involved in tramp seem to be over at least until I can get a car. Lynx don't do adults, and don't even seem to need any bodies to help :(

Aha I'm at Cambridge and they do, of course, hold an Oxford Vs Cambridge varsity match every year have a look at the videos on the cambridge site http://www.srcf.ucam.org/cutc/

Lucky you! Personally I much prefer Cambridge - only ended up here because of my work!
Oops. Shouldn't have said that
Never mind - there'll be loads if redheads possibly just about to turn up at the club from Scotland. They'll never know it was me that said it:)

Oh dear - I've given away more than I need to.
Can I borrow a spade to dig myself out the hole?

I like doing front somersaults better, cos in backs i always travel and land on the edge of the trampoline. Iv landed on a spotter before when iv done a back somersault, and blacked his eye! :-S !

Sounds like a head back take off! I occasionally do a full from one end of the bed to the other if I lean on take off (not too often fortunately) but it still needs a lot of work anyway so I'm not too worried.:)

you're all loopy if you ask me!! hehe i do gym and i can't stand trampolining! its not that i dont like it....... im just really really really scared of it!!! i used to love it, then i fell down the back of one..... and erm knew a girl who broke her neck and is still in a wheel chair..... and saw another one break her arm and have it sticking out where her elbow should have been!! but hey other than that its an ace sport, respect to all of you! if forced to do sommies, and believe me i need to be forced ill go backwards, far far easier to stay on the bed n not travel a million miles!!

Thank you for sharing that cheery thought with us :)
There's a worrying amount of descriptions of injuries on gym / tramp forums....

Don't worry after many years of gym and tramp I've never managed to seriously injure myself in either (apart from a cracked rib while vaulting but I was laughing at what I'd done). However a couple of hours playing cricket yesterday appear to have trashed my right knee so that it swollen and sore (typically when there are some weekday tramp sessions booked and we are going to do some rig practice)so I might have to sit this week out!!!Gutted:mad:

Well my little'un's just learning pike backs now (she can tuck back and straight back but she was having trouble with pikes). She was buzzing when she got back from the gym the other night 'cos that's virtually all she'd done.
Yep, she still likes back somis best.

I can understand the problem with pike backs I lost them and haven't been particularly zealous in trying to get them back, I can alway find something else to practice first. I've got my b-b-out back though, I was having real problems but just keep doing them every so often and they're getting better now.
