OK, does anyone know what that tickbox means, the one that comes up when you post and says "automatically parse links in text". I have tried checking and un-checking it but I don't know if I am any more 'parsed' one way or the other. :confused:

It must somehow change what is displayed if you put a link to another website in your post.

Edit - got it. If I type an address; like www.google.com, and uncheck that box, you can't click on the link to go to it. If I'd left the box ticked, you'd have been able to click on the link as normal.

Not really, because you can still have hyperlinks without ticking the box. It just means if you're lazy and don't [ url ] your links, it will do it for you.
