Hi All small and quick question here :

How long does a piece of music have to be for a routine in Sports Acro ? I think its 2 minutes 30 seconds is this correct ???

Also if the music woz to be 2 minutes 36 seconds would we loose marks for it ???

oh Great and wonderful Anita do you know ?:D

Sorry - couldn't resist. In a silly mood today!

The three main rules to remember are:

All exercises have a maximum duration of 2 minutes 30 seconds. There is no stipulated minimum.
The first move made by one or more competitors from the start position is considered as the beginning of an exercise. The end of an exercise is the static position of partners, which must coincide with the end of the music
CJP penalties occur if the duration of the exericse is longer than 2 minutes 30 seconds: 0.1 is deducted for each second over time.
So Dave, your music can be 2 minutes 36 seconds but you must only use the last 2 minute 30 seconds (ie don't start for six seconds). However, if you are waiting too long on the floor before starting you could incur a penalty. Best to cut your music to exactly 2-30 or just have a couple beats at the beginning before starting.

Make sure you end the routine to coincide with the end of the music - and don't have the music fading out as this can take your music beyond the time and you can also be deemed not to have finished on the last beat, losing marks.

Don't forget all music must now be on CD or mini disk and make sure you "finalise" it or it won't always play in a CD player (some incurred penalties for this at the weekend - it's a 0.3 CJP deduction - as their CDs wouldn't play in the CD players so the music man had to resort to a DVD player).

Hope this helps.

Many thanks for clearing that up Anita.... I have cut the music down to 2 minutes 30 now, it does fade out at the end slightly but only after a peak which signals the end of the music....

By the way when is the exact date for the Summer Tournment ? as i will be doing the Mens 4 and quite possible a level 3 mixed pair....
