Thought that considering i've just come back from my week long holiday in the Algarve in portugal id see how many of us here have actually had a holiday this summer ?? So come on people tell me where you've been on your hols....

PS for those who haven't been on hols yet i'd recommend the Algarve its very relaxing and for those of you with Kids there are ample things for them to do....

I've just got on holiday now (started on the 6th). I'm spending a week in Edinburgh, which is funky, and then I'm going back up north for a fun fun tonsilectomy. I can't wait. Well. A good excuse for ice cream, I suppose. Sigh.

London will seem exotic by the end of 6 weeks in scotland.

Who told you they give you ice cream after a tonsillectomy? My daughter - eventually - got a bowl of breakfast cereal!

Mind you, it's a good excuse for some good old Ben & Jerry's! Good luck and enjoy the break.

My holidays: we're going to Wales for a week in September and then spending a week at home having a good old turf out of rubbish, clutter, things I no longer wear etc etc

Enjoy the holiday Gingerbop - I miss Edinburgh sometimes - it was nice. And all the best for the rest of the, ehm, break.

Glad to hear the painkillers are working Dave - more than mine did earlier this year! I was on extremely strong ones in the end: didn't touch the pain but I was so "zapped out" by them that I couldn't give a damn  .

My "holiday" was longer than yours: eight weeks plus three weeks phased return (part-time) to work. Unfortunately they only provided cover for four weeks of my job so there's one hell of a backlog to catch up on. Need a holiday to recover from returning from sick leave so .... I've 2½ weeks off in September. A couple days' clothes washing and packing, a week in Wales and then a week having a "turf out" of my loft etc. Then it's back to work - and an even bigger backlog than I left (cos they don't provide holiday cover so nothing gets done at all).
