I am a gym club coach but i got into a really argument with my friends friend last night regarding acro gymnastics. i have no dealings with arco just general /pre school/ womens artistic, but hope someone might be able to help me.

what is the difference between acro gym and cheerleading? the 'friend' coaches cheerleading with no 'shouts' just dance and 'attempts' at gymnastics. what is the difference?

also in cheerleading they have no gymnstics coaching knowledge e.g. for flicks or waterever but can coach it through what they think- with no safety perspective or gymnastics knowlegde! why is it that cheerleaders / dance schools can do this whilst in BG for club coach level there is so much to do e.g. for even general gym?

hope someone can explain so i have defence for when the argument is bound to come up again!

Hey again, i am a certified cheerleading coach, and attaining my master level certificate was the hardest thing i have ever had to do! We are qualified to coach gymnastics, however supporting techinique are not allowed, so you can verbally tell a cheerleader what they are doing wrong! I am an NCA Instructor and qualified judge (for cheer) in the US, i know that its pretty tough, cheerleading is far more popular than gymnastics, probably because it encompases, tumbling, stunting and dance! What squad does your friend coach? I recieved my certifications from american organisations, don't know if he/she is! Because of my experience, i was able to gain quaifications in gymnastics, but most cheer coaches in this country don't have the gymnastics background to even start coaching gymnastics/tumbling! Hope that helps!
