I`ve been looking in on a fairly frequent basis, but have decided to join in as there does`nt appear to many guys on this forum.
Does anybody know why there is a reluctance to use it, because there is plenty using welcome to tramp site!http://www.british-gymnastics.org/memberforum/images/icons/icon7.gif

There's a problem for some people joining - you have to be BGA registered so ex-gymnasts and ex-coaches etc can't join. Neither can people who simply love the sport. Don't know if you were on the "old" forum or not but it's still available to view and you'll get the gist of just why this has happened.:(

Also there were people like Bouncer501 who, although registered with BG, seemed to be registered through their club and never received their own individual membership cards.

I don't know how this happens but on one of the very final threads of the old forum the topic diverts onto BG membership and she mentions this fact in there, so maybe that's why she and a few others haven't been able to get back onto this new forum.

I don't know. I'd wondered myself.

I'd thought it might have been something to do with age of the forums, but overall the BG ones seem to have been around longer (correct me if I'm wrong...)

Maybe people don't know about this one. The other site has a lot of information about other aspects that is easier to find than here or not available here. People might have had more reason to visit the other site than BG's, and then stuck around to use it's forum.

There's also a sort of different atmosphere about the other one, maybe people prefer it or different people use it.

At times I've noticed that a very great percentage of the people on this site aren't registered - up to 80%. Maybe it's too much trouble to register here. Also a lot of trampolinists are students - if they are BUSA / SUSF members would they need / want to join BG / SG as well?

Personally, I've always preferred the BG forums (old and new) from the point of view that I can look at them on my phone, but the other one needs a PC to run the scripts. However, on a PC, the other one is faster and easier to use, maybe people prefer that...

Hey Jaye,

Are you trying to suggest I am a girl or sumthing?LOL!!

Oh my goodness, this is the second time I've done this :o (Gingerheid will vouch for that!) I didn't realise you were Bouncer501 ... you should put a signature or something like Laura (Pinxi) so we all know who you were and who you are now!! It seems there are a few who have signed back onto this forum with their real names and not their old forum name ... and I get easily confused!

In that case, now we know it's you, nice to see you back ... MISTER Bouncer501!! :D

I think it's possiibly that people have got themselves established on the other site and don't feel the need to sign up on another site when they get everything from welcome to...

Must admit, there are some great quips and stories on the Welcome To site ... some I find rather worrying speaking as a mum (ie, injury related  ) but there is a really funny one at the moment about the 'stupidest thing you've ever done' (yes Gingerheid, breaking your leg on a straight bounce made me LOL!!!)

It has a lot of regular forum users who don't need to log on or sign on and don't even give their names (names like -@-@-@ or <;<;< etc crop up often!!) Maybe the ease of use just keeps them on there, even though this BGA forum is far superior in terms of appearance and facilities etc (not to mention the ability to edit your posts if you type it wrong .. you can't do that on Welcome To, you hit the wrong keys and it stays on there for all to see!)

This site is of course far superior in terms of that it has a PM facility :) And it does actually hold it's own quite well given the competition, I see Tramp is the most popular of the discipline boards!

(I like to think that it was a particularly difficult straight bounce I was attempting :o I still don't know how I did it and never will, presumably I was slightly off balance or my foot was at an angle. Wasn't aware of it though :( )

Yes, I forgot to mention the PM facility which of course Welcome To doesn't have :)

Would definitely be nice to see a few of the tramp peeps using this site though. My daughter reads both sites and for use and appearance she prefers using this one herself, but often ends up posting on the other just because there are so many more people on it and you're more likely to get replies, plus there are new threads going on there all the time to reply to and keep the interest going.

Me too, I always switch from one to the other when I log on, but it would be nice to see some others from Welcome To checking out the BG site too.

this is probably a really dumb question but what is the address of the other website?

Lucy
