I hope that the committee that is reviewing the competiton structure does something about the present anomally in the allocation of Grade 2 competitions. Once again Northern Ireland (population 1.7 m) have been allocated three competitions (four if you believe the BAGA calender of events) and only two have been alllocated to England (population 49m) . This year they have also reduced the number of competitons from eight to seven.

Could I suggest a fairer allocation, based on eight quailifying competitions, would be one each for Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales with the remaining five being allocated to the ten English Regions on a geographical basis (e.g. the North Region alternates with the North West Region).

Could I also suggest that they abolish down grading from Grade 2 to Grade 3, which only destroys a gymnasts confidence, and limit the number of entries to Grade 2 qualifying competitions by allowing a gymnast to enter a maximum of four qualifying competitions per year.
