(1) Committee members, directors and trustees acting in an overseeing capacity and not involved in day to day activities, do not require individual membership as they are covered under the club's liability insurance
(2) When registering via a club, the renewal date is 1st October, if renewing direct the renewal date is the 1st January.
(3) Where two members living at the same postal address hold Gold membership, a joint membership of £60 per person is available.
(4) Gold and Silver new members joining during the course of a year can pay a fee equivalent to the number of months of the year outstanding at that point. Note - returning members will be accepted as a new member providing that they have not been a member for a full membership year.
(5) A Bronze membership, at the full Bronze rate, will be required for recreational gymnasts reaching the age of five during the new membership year. Gymnasts below this age will be entitled to 'kindergym' membership at the lower Bronze rate.

Q. Have any changes been made to the membership structure?
The gold, silver, bronze structure introduced last year has been well received and we are continuing with it.
Q. Has the fee for bronze membership gone up?
No. We have retained the £15 fee as a signal of our commitment to providing ‘value for money’ grassroots participation as we promised last year. This area of membership continues to grow partly as a result of this decision and your support.
We have adopted the internationally acclaimed ‘gymnastics for all’ ethos that places at its centre a programme of activities that can be enjoyed by all ages. We are developing supporting programmes that will provide additional opportunities to enjoy the sport, develop skills and perform. Watch out for announcements on our website and in the GymBlast e-Newsletter.
Q. Why has the fee for silver membership gone up?
We have reviewed the additional access to training resources and competition available to silver members and the costs of their provision and created a reasonable differential between silver and bronze fees.
The new fee level still provides exceptional value for money and compares favourably with those paid by comparable sports and other federations within our own sport.
Q. I am a competitive gymnast and I need to renew my silver membership before 1st October as I am entering a competition in October, how can I do that?
Your club is able to renew your membership from 1st September.
Q. If I decide not to continue with gymnastics part way through the year can I have a refund?
New participants are entitled to 2 free taster sessions and then have the option of taking out a temporary membership of either 6 or 17 weeks if they are not sure of their continued participation.
It is more cost effective to take the full year bronze membership but these choices should be made on joining as we do not operate a refund policy.
Q. I have been out of the sport for sometime, am I considered to be a new member?
Members who have been out of the sport for a full membership year are considered to be a new member.
New gold and silver members can take out membership on a pro-rata basis. Bronze members can take advantage of the temporary memberships available.
If you have been out of the sport for less than a full membership year, your membership will be treated as continuous and the full annual fee will be payable.
Q. How do I know if I need silver membership?
You will need silver membership if you are deemed to be a competitive gymnast. For the necessary definitions please click here.
| CLUBS...
Q. Why is there a club registration fee?
Clubs gain access to a range of advice and support covering best practice in development, education and safeguarding and have access to competition and festival structures.
Registration provides the club, its officers, employees and volunteers with liability insurance cover for their activities should they be faced with legal claims as a result of their actions or decisions.
BG represents the sport and its clubs with government agencies and international federations.
Q. What does a club have to pay to register with BG?
The club registration fee has been held at £100 and is discounted by 25% for clubs registering their members online and a further 25% for clubs having attained GymMark accreditation.
Q. What is BG doing to assist clubs at a local level?
BG development teams offer support to clubs and their workforce and assist in providing opportunities to participate in competitions, festivals and displays. They can link clubs to a range of partners, advise on access to funding and provide guidance on club development, GymMark accreditation and facility planning and improvement.
Q. Are there any changes to the club registration process?
There are now 3 stages in the club registration process:
1 Conditional: a club registers its basic details including nominated club officers and its gymnasts (minimum of 10)
2 Current: the funds for the above are received and cleared
3 Confirmed: the club has its registration confirmed in writing when employer liability and registration certificates are sent out with the club registration pack.
Q. What types of bronze membership can I offer new recreational members?

Full year membership
Note that temporary memberships can be upgraded to full year membership at the end of the temporary period by paying the differential between temporary and full year fees.
Please note that 2 initial taster sessions are allowed free of membership fees.
Q. What payment methods are available to me for club and member registration?
An online club can pay using a credit card via Streamline a secure payment process. This method provides immediate registration and membership
A club can pay by cheque(s). However, in this case it is necessary to provide details of the members covered by the cheque. This can be done on a separate list (noting member name, date of birth and membership number and cheque number if multiple cheques are used). Alternatively write the information on the reverse of every cheque. If we are unable to identify which members a cheque payment covers we may be unable to process the cheque and will have to return it to the club. This will lead to a delay in registration and may impact on insurance cover.
Please note that we can only raise invoices against an official Purchase Order and that these are subject to 30 days payment terms.
