Notts gymnast Becky Downie has been nominated for the 2009 BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year.
Having successfully defended her British Senior all around title; finishing a record 12th in the Olympic Games all around, 11th in the all around at the European Championships and 16th at the recent World Championships, 17-year-old Becky has proved herself as a superb gymnast with a great future ahead of her.
Becky joins 9 other young sport stars in the list of nominees to win a title previously won by the likes of Wayne Rooney and diver Tom Daley.
The judging panel will reconvene on Monday 23 November 2009 to select the top three and the winner from the top 10 list. The winner will be announced live on the Sports Personality of the Year show and the BBC website on Sunday 13 December 2009.

The main Sports Personality of the Year Award contenders will be announced during 'The One Show' on Monday 30 November, it is hoped that further gymnastics recognition will be declared with Beth Tweddle and Daniel Keatings potentially in the running!
