Trampoline, Tumbling and DMT European Championships After the chaos surrounding the flight postponements due to the volcanic ash cloud, the Trampoline, Tumbling and DMT delegations are thankfully now well on the road to Bulgaria in time for the forthcoming European Championships. A meeting of British Gymnastics CEO Jane Allen, Olympic Performance Director Tim Jones, Technical Director Martin Reddin and Trampoline TC Chair Martin Laws over the weekend came to the decision to hire 2 48-seat coaches to take the gymnasts and delegates over land and water to the Championships. The programme for the event has been sufficiently rationalised to satisfy everyone that the Teams could go ahead and travel in the hope to arrive in Bulgaria by Tuesday, in preparation for the start of the events, now on Thursday. The Team departed in the early hours of Sunday morning. Tim Jones, British Gymnastics Olympic Performance Director said: “We are very aware of the great lengths many countries have made to attend the Artistic European Championships in Birmingham this week and as soon as we were clear that it was viable for our delegations to travel by coach to Bulgaria in time to prepare and compete, we made that positive decision. We appreciate the great efforts made by all the gymnasts, coaches, judges and delegates and hope this is shown to be worthwhile with successful results.”
