“I am a British Gymnastics member – how do I access BGTV?”
BGTV is currently free to all members so for the moment you do not need to sign in to view content. When the new interface is fully implemented BG members will continue to get free access by logging in to BGTV through a ‘log in’ button. The username and password will match your membership portal details.

Subscirbers.

“I am a subscriber to BGTV – what happens with my account?”
What to do if you subscribed to BGTV before April 2008:

If you subscribed to BGTV before April 2008 and have an active account with us you must cancel your BGTV subscription immediately.

BGTV is now using a different video provider. We will not receive any future payments you make through the direct debit set-up externally to pay for your BGTV services - To cancel this you must remove the direct debit for BGTV from your bank account /PayPal account.

“I signed up to BGTV before the re-launch – why should I pay for a free service, and will I get a refund for the time the channel was off-line?"
You will not lose any money or be disadvantaged.
Although at present the BGTV site is free for everyone to access, in a few weeks it will once again become a subscription and membership based channel - the site will remain free to British Gymnastics members but will be subscription based for everyone else.

All current BGTV subscribers will have the amount of time the channel was off-line plus the amount of time the channel is free-to-watch added to their account. Your account expiry date will be changed accordingly.

Our new improved payment system will be in operation shortly. If your account expires and you wish to renew your BGTV subscription you will be able to do so through our new payment system. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.

“How can I cancel my subscription?”
If you formerly subscribed to BGTV a direct debit was set-up with your bank. In order to cancel this subscription you must delete the direct debit from your account.

About Broadband TV:
Internet TV requires a broadband internet connection. The more bandwidth you have, the smoother the videos will playback.

“I have a 1Mb broadband connection – why is it still slow?”
If your broadband connection bandwidth is more than 500kb/sec, the video quality will be good. You may find that you are paying for a broadband package that has an ‘up to 1Mb connection’ - it is possible that many houses may share your bandwidth. This will reduce your connection speed and impair video playback.

“How can I send comments or suggestions to BGTV?”

Send us an email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it - we may not always be able to reply to your email directly but we will read it and take action as necessary.

“I cannot get the player to load properly”

BGTV requires a ‘Flash’ player to be installed on your computer, click here.

“The picture is jerky and keeps stopping / starting, the full screen view is fuzzy”
A low bandwidth will cause low quality picture, and ‘buffering’ problems (the picture will keep freezing as the next chunk downloads). This is not a problem with the system it is a problem with the bandwidth of your internet connection.

Try closing any other programs that are accessing the internet on your computer. This will free up computer resources and bandwidth. These could include Instant messaging or music / film download programs. You could also try closing down other applications that may be running on your computer. This may help to free up some extra resources.

If the picture keeps freezing you could consider upgrading your broadband package to one with a greater bandwidth (500kb/sec should be good enough to view the content successfully)

If you use a wireless network, you may find parts of your house have bad reception, so take time to find where the best signal is and watch BGTV from there. You will probably find that the signal strength of the wireless network increases as you move closer to the transmitter.

“How do I change the player size?”

Click on the maximise button just underneath the video picture.

“Can I view BGTV on my television?”
If you have a TV card in your computer you should be able to connect this into the back of your TV. Alternatively if you have a newer TV you may be able to connect it to your computer via a monitor cable. In either case you will need to change the TV to the relevant input and you may have to plug speakers into your computer to hear the sound.

BGTV programs are also available on DVD. Go to the online shop for more information.
