The British Women's Artistic Gymnastics domestic season gets under way with a Junior International on Saturday, March 21 between Great Britain and Romania from the City of Lisburn Gymnastics Centre in Northern Ireland The British line up will be led by Heathrow’s Nicole Hibbert and Danusia Francis, who finished one and two in the British Junior Championships in 2008. Also competing will be UK schools Games Champion, Lizzie Beddoe from Cardiff and Nottinghams Niamh Rippin who placed third in the 2008 British. Jocelyn Hunt from Horsham, Ruby Straw from Nottingham and Jessica Hogg of Cardiff complete the line-up. Great Britain enjoy a harmonious and successful relationship with the Romanian gymnastics community. In recent years GBR and Romania have battled at events in Newcastle and Ipswich, indeed in 2008 the GBR v ROM International occurred twice within the space of a month both in Romania and at home. For both sets of gymnasts, finding a settled place in their respective Squads will be a priority. The first year within the new London 2012 Olympic cycle will see many changes in personnel for all Nations and also finds the gymnasts competing under a new code of points. This competition therefore represents a great chance to make a favorable impression as coaches and selectors begin to look at their plans for the next four years.
