Events
The Events team is committed to developing strong national and UK based international events that communicate effectively the dynamism, excitement and theatre of the sport of gymnastics. By doing so, the team aims to build the profile of the events and maximise media coverage to the benefit of the sport and its participants.
The team is responsible for delivery of major national and UK based international events across the various disciplines and for working with discipline specific technical committees to provide them with the support necessary to fulfil these objectives in relation to competition structures at national level.
Key activities include: venue appraisals, events planning, preparation and logistics, liaison with external bodies in relation to sound, lighting, scoring and TV coverage, liaison with delivery partners and hosts (for example local authorities and venue management), support of events sponsors and advertisers, and for assuring effective marketing (pre, during and post event).
Travel
The Travel team provides a travel management service embracing flights and hotel accommodation for official national squads, officials and delegations travelling to events nationally and internationally. In an average year this may entail covering travel arrangements for more than 60 events.
The team liaises with the BG delegations, works with its appointed travel agent, CSE, and has direct access to airline reservation and hotel booking systems. It aims to provide superior arrangements at acceptable cost.
