According to the Drawing of Lots held on Saturday, 24 July in Rotterdam for the World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Netherlands, the British Women’s Team will enter Competition 1 as part of Subdivision 6 (out of 12), along with the teams of Russia, France and Sweden.

 


The defending World Team Champions from Stuttgart (GER) 2007, the USA are in Subdivision 7; The 2008 Olympic Champions, China- in Subdivision 1, and the current World and Olympic Bronze medallists, Romania- in Subdivision 3.

The British Men have been drawn in Subdivision 3 (out of 10) and will compete together with Canada, Ireland, Greece, Qatar and Mixed Group 1.

The 2007 World and 2008 Olympic Champions, China are part of Subdivision 6; Japan (silver medallists in both Stuttgart’07 and Beijing’08) are in Subdivision 2; the 2008 Olympic Bronze medallists from the USA – in Subdivision 5 and the current European Champions, Germany- in the last, 10th Subdivision.

With 73 National Federations, 53 Men’s and 44 Women’s Teams, this first leg of the 2012 Olympic Qualifications has set a record before the Championships start on 16 October 2010.   

Only the top 24 Men’s and 24 Women’s teams in Rotterdam will proceed further to the second round of the Olympic Qualifications, in Tokyo (JPN) at the 2011 World Championships.
