British gymnast Beth Tweddle MBE has been announced in the official line up of the popular ITV show ‘Dancing on Ice.’
The gymnastics superstar will skate alongside other celebrities such as Olympic boxing Champion Luke Campbell and former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson on the show which begins on January 6th.
Following her sensational Olympic bronze medal, the crowning moment of a career that has established Beth as British greatest ever female gymnast, she has decided to embark on the new challenge which she will undertake alongside her continued gymnastics training.
Beth Tweddle MBE: “I decided to do Dancing on Ice because I wanted to have a go at something different. I’ve always watched the show and thought that I would love to go on it. Coming off my success in London, this seemed to be a good time to take up this opportunity whilst I consider my gymnastic options for the future.
Skating has been going really well so far and I'm learning something new every day, which is great. I've had a lot of falls but you need those to learn the skills, so I'm getting used to it!
I will of course continue to train for gymnastics alongside the skating and have worked out a training programme with our National Coach that will keep my body in shape throughout my time on the show.
I’ve had fantastic support throughout my career from all the amazing gymnastics fans, and I hope that will continue whilst I’m on Dancing on Ice with my partner Dan Whiston."
The first show is this Sunday 6th January on ITV1 starting at 6.15pm.
