bursary

The British Gymnastics Club Bursary scheme has invested £10,000 to support over 20 clubs across Britain, encouraging and enabling centres to increase gymnastics participation.

GymMark accredited Clubs were invited to apply for up to £500 toward the cost of projects ranging from venue hire and equipment purchases to marketing and coaching add-on modules, with the key outcome target of at least 25 new participants being delivered. Over 60 clubs applied for the bursary with 22 receiving investment.

One such club that applied for the bursary was 1066 Gymnastics club in Hastings who received £130 towards the costs of 2 freestyle add-on coaching modules to help develop their coaching personnel and so enable the centre to support a wider range of activity for more gymnasts.

Matthew Hart “We are huge supporters of Freestyle Gymnastics as an exciting and developing strand within the gymnastics family.  We have found it to be a great way to retain participants in our club and even draw in more boys and teenagers.  We applied for funding for two of our level 2 coaches to attend a British Gymnastics Level 2 Freestyle Gymnastics Add On Module.  We run as many Freestyle classes as we can and having two more coaches qualified to run them will open up our club timetable even more and allow us to create and promote new classes.  We look forward to extending our Freestyle membership even more this year with the aid of these two coaches."
