Beth Tweddle has been crowned the 2013 Dancing on Ice champion.

Skating against Eastender Matt Lapinskas and performing to the legendary “Bolero” made famous by Torvill and Dean, Beth and skating partner Dan Whiston took the title by public vote, having earlier wowed the judges with a dance to the song “Car Wash” and a routine to Emile Sande’s “Clown” which earned her 37.5 points.

The gymnast's final dance dance impressed the panel with head judge Robin Cousins describing it as "electric", while former Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts said: "That was sexy. That was sultry. There was attack. There was softness."

Beth who had been an early favourite to win the show, said that she was "speechless" after being told by presenter Philip Schofield that she was the victor.

Speaking on ITV’s This Morning Beth said “I’m still overwhelmed, it’s been the most amazing experience of my life and I’ve loved every minute of it. Since the Olympics I’ve just gone straight into Dancing on Ice so it’s going to be strange to now get a chance to sit back and take it all in, I’m looking forward to catching up with friends and family and get back to real life.”

Later adding on twitter "I have not turned my back on gymnastics, still training & cant wait to watch everyone at the British".

Beth's victory means gymnasts and gymnastics acts have now been victorious on Dancing on Ice, Strictly Come Dancing, Britain's Got Talent and Let’s Get Gold with Scottish group Gymtasia Evolution also tonight making it through to next week’s final of Sky 1's Got To Dance.
