Independent Chair - British Gymnastics

Independent Chair

British Gymnastics is the governing body for the sport of gymnastics in the UK. It exists to support, lead and inspire all those involved or interested in gymnastics and provide a national direction and structure for the sport; delivering a range of opportunities across the age spectrum to take part and stay in gymnastics, as well as developing talent and delivering top-level success. It unifies the 4 Home Countries, the Isle of Man, 10 English Regions, over 1500 affiliated Gymnastics clubs, over 8,500 active coaches, over 400,000 participants and a large number of dedicated volunteers across the UK.

British Gymnastics has seen positive development in its key areas of focus, with rising participation, a growing membership and outstanding medal winning success for the British teams at major championships. It receives funding from UK Sport and Sport England but has also been able to diversify its income to good effect. Current turnover is circa £19 million with approximately 30% of this from governing funding (UK Sport, Sport England).
