Your Club in the Spotlight – calling all preschool coaches!
We are inviting clubs from our community to be part of a series of photo and video shoots for a range of recreational activity resources that will be used by gymnasts and coaches across the UK.
For the first phase we are looking for an excitable group of 16 preschool aged gymnasts.
Scheduled for February & April 2020, the photoshoots will take place in your facility and will be an exciting experience for your club. See what goes on behind the camera as your gymnasts are involved in fun activities whilst we capture the action!
To take part, we will need to do TWO shoots, and to be eligible, the 16 gymnasts and two coaches need to be available at your facility for TWO of the following date ranges:
Shoot 1 – either
w/c 3rd February or
w/c 10th February
Shoot 2 – either
w/c 30th March
w/c 6th April
Due to the requirements in the activity resources, we will require some gymnasts to be able to do the following skills:
The club selected for the photoshoot will be given £200 to spend in the British Gymnastics Official Shop on equipment, clothing, resources or awards. Each gymnast will receive a goody bag on the day of the photoshoot.
The legal bit
All participants in the photoshoot, including the club manager will have to sign an image release form.
Ready to enter?
We have a short form for you to fill out so you can tell us more about your club. We'd also like some photos of your facility, coaches and gymnasts to help us select a club suitable for the photoshoot.
Take part in fun gymnastics challenges wherever you are, and win some brilliant prizes, with the TopYa! Active app!
In partnership with British Gymnastics, the free TopYa! Active App offers gymnastics content for children to experience and enjoy the benefits of gymnastics any time, any place, anywhere!
Challenges have been set by some of your favourite British elite gymnasts, and all you have to do is upload a video to the app showing off your creative skills. After receiving some virtual coaching feedback, your video will be shared with the TopYa! community for a chance to win some great prizes.
Dave Marshall, Participation Director at British Gymnastics said “We want as many children as possible to be active and have fun with gymnastics. The app is particularly good news for children who can’t access gymnastics sessions easily as well as encouraging and supporting those who would rather take part at home. This partnership aligns perfectly with our strategy to deliver more participation opportunities for more people.”
Are you ready to take the TopYa! challenge? Here’s how you can get involved!

Adult gymnastics provides a new opportunity for anyone aged 18+ to try out or return to our amazing sport. Does your club want to offer something different to your older gymnasts once they’ve stopped competing to keep them participating? Or do you have any parents or enthusiastic adults who want to try gymnastics for the first time? Adult gymnastics can broaden your club offering and diversify revenue streams within the club, while utilising your space during quieter period such as early mornings, lunchtime or later in the evening.
Our pdf Adult Support Guide (4.56 MB) provides a step by step guide to setting up and delivering adult gymnastics within a club, as well as how to break down the common barriers and challenges in delivering gymnastics activities to adults.
We have also developed a dedicated Discover Adult Gymnastics workshop, where coaches can learn how to deliver a progressive and engaging programme for adults. Register your interest in a Discover Adult Gymnastics workshop by contacting [email protected].

The 2018 Adult British Championships will be held on 25-26 August 2018 at Lilleshall National Sports Centre.
Many clubs with well-established adult sessions run successful adult competitions. This is a great starting point for those adults who have never competed before and helps create a network of participants. As with the Adult Gymnastics British Championships, all competitions are relaxed and highly sociable with a number of disciplines on offer.
Can’t find a suitable competition? Why not run your own? We have created a pdf handy event guide (804 KB) to support you in setting up your own adult competition.
Participating in festivals such as GymFusion or our international festivals provides the opportunity for gymnasts of all ages and abilities to showcase their gymnastics skills in front of a captive audience in theatre-like venues. Festivals are the perfect opportunity for adults to perform as part of a team and socialise with other like-minded people from all over the world.
We know your club is always looking for fresh ways to engage and retain gymnasts. So we’re delighted to introduce you to GymChallenge, a gymnastics competition with a twist. Unlike other team competitions, where gymnasts are marked on technical excellence, GymChallenge is focused on fun and fitness and can be staged in as little as two hours in your club. Which means now everyone can experience the unique thrill of a team competition without the pressure and no matter what their age or ability.
It’s easy to stage a GymChallenge event and all you need to do to find out more or get started is to visit the GfA section of GymNET and add GymChallenge as an activity. You will then see the challenge cards, club and assessor guides and all marketing materials you will need to run an event. You aren’t obligated to deliver GymChallenge in your club if you add GymChallenge as an activity, this will simply allow you to see all the resources we’ve created.
We hope you enjoy using these resources and have a lot of fun with GymChallenge.
