What is the "Make a Difference" programme?
Gymnastics, along with most sports, relies heavily on the support, time and effort given by volunteers who make sport happen. The "Make a Difference" programme has been developed for clubs to use in order to increase both the quantity and quality of volunteers who support the everyday running of a club. Enabling the club to run more efficiently, by allowing the workload to be better distributed.
What support is available?
The "Make a Difference" programme will help clubs to identify their specific volunteer needs. The club, with support from British Gymnastics, where needed, will run a short recruitment workshop with parents, friends, family and members of the local community to recruit new volunteers to meet the club's needs.
This can include a variety of different roles that are all vital to a clubs success. The club will be provided with free resources on how to recruit, train and support these volunteers in order to increase retention. Post workshop there will be funding available to support the training of the newly recruited volunteers.
How does the process work?
The process begins with hosting a presentation/workshop on the benefits of volunteering within the sport. This is advisably advertised across the club and community to gain maximum interest, we can help by promoting details on our social media pages.
Following the presentation and recruitment of new volunteers the selected training direction has to be considered, do you need a new Welfare Officer? Web Designer? First Aider? the club can now apply for funding to help this happen.
Alternatively, if you have recently recruited new volunteers you can still apply for funding without running the presentation.
