UKCC Coaching Course Tutors

British Gymnastics is looking to recruit, train and deploy new tutors for delivery in UKCC Level 1 and 2 coaching courses. This is an opportunity to impact the development of coaches across the sport as a member of the British Gymnastics Educator Workforce on a Contract for Service paid at the rates below. This is a self-employed role, and work is offered based on workforce availability and demands of the regional course programmes. For further development, once trained the tutor may have the opportunity to train as an assessor if they wish to expand their scope of work.

UKCC Level 1 and 2 Tutor fee- £270 per day

We are looking to recruit tutors to join the British Gymnastics Educator Workforce in the following disciplines across England and Northern Ireland:

  • Acrobatics
  • General Gymnastics
  • Men’s Artistic
  • Rhythmic
  • TeamGym
  • Trampoline
  • Tumbling
  • Women’s Artistic

UKCC Tutor Requirements and Specification

Qualifications
  • Minimum Level 3 Gymnastics Coaching Award
  • British Gymnastics Gold member
  • A British Gymnastics recognised Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Vulnerable Adults certificate
  • Knowledge and Experience
  • Relevant coaching experience within the past 3 years
  • Knowledge of the hazards and risks associated with delivering activity in a gymnastics environment
  • Knowledge of equality and diversity and how to incorporate equal opportunity into course delivery
  • Knowledge of the “how to” and “what to” principles that underpin the British Gymnastics qualifications
  • Experience of delivering training to adults (Desirable)
Skills and competencies
  • Be able to communicate with a diverse audience
  • Be able to organise and deliver a training programme or similar event
  • Can establish and maintain a good working relationship with learners, workforce colleagues and British Gymnastics staff
  • Can follow instructions and procedures
  • Have intermediate IT skills

Licence requirements
British Gymnastics/Home Nations are responsible for the quality assurance of this education and training provision. The Educator Workforce Licence supports British Gymnastics/Home Nations to ensure the workforce continues to provide a high-quality service, informed by current best practice through regular Continual Professional Development (CPD).
The successful applicants will need to hold a workforce licence, and therefore will need to:

  • Be a current British Gymnastics/Home Nations member
  • Meet qualification requirements for the role
  • Agree to the Educator Workforce Licence Terms & Conditions
  • Agree to all British Gymnastics/Home Nations rules and the Educator Workforce Code of Conduct
  • Meet the Licence Maintenance Criteria

The Educator Workforce Licence is re-issued every two years. The current licence covers the two-year period from 01/01/2018 until 31/12/2020. Thereafter the licence renewal will be automatic for those workforce members who meet the eligibility requirements.
(N.B.  If a member of the Educator Workforce is brought on board during a licence period, a recalculation of the licence renewal requirements will be made to create realistic targets within the shortened timeframes).
 

Requirements for UKCC level 1 and 2 is the delivery of six days per licence cycle.

Application

Applicants should complete the attached pdf application form (720 KB) ; include your experience over the previous three years for:

  • Coaching history, including achievements and experience
  • Delivery experience
  • Mentoring experience
  • Groups worked with
  • Primary discipline

As part of the formal process you will be required to deliver a 7-minute presentation on the following topic:

  • Your coaching journey
  • Your coaching philosophy
  • What skills you think you can bring to the role

This may be delivered in a format of your choice. A laptop, projector and flip chart will be available. Please highlight in the application if you require any further assistance.


Training process
Successful applicants will be required to enrol onto the compulsory tutor training scheduled for Saturday 29th February and Sunday 1st March 2020 (venue tbc). This will include a training fee of £80.00. Refreshments and resources will be provided; however, accommodation will need to be paid and booked by the successful applicant.
