Emplioyer Description: Birmingham Gymnastics Academy is a small, friendly, family run gymnastics club based on the Metchley Lane site in the heart of the Harborne community. We focus on recreational gymnastics, encouraging children to learn gymnastics in a positive, supportive and exciting learning environment. We aim to improve children’s balance, flexibility and strength and want every child to feel really special, with lots of positive praise, rewards, stickers and certificates of achievement.

Birmingham Gymnastics Academy prides itself on being a fun, safe and enjoyable learning environment, using qualified coaches, drawing upon years of experience in the world of gymnastics, early years settings and as qualified teachers who want children to ‘enjoy their gymnastics’ in a positive and caring environment.

Within the classes every child has the opportunity to improve their skills on floor, track, vault, trampoline, bar and beam and are also given the opportunity to achieve ‘Birmingham Gymnastics Academy Awards scheme’ badges and certificates.

Hours available: 
      • Friday 4pm to 7:45pm (Recreational) (job begins end of May)
      • Saturday 9am to 12:15pm (Pre-school and recreational) (job begins immediately) 
      • Saturday 1pm to 4pm (recreational) (job begins end of May)
      • Sunday 9:30am to 1pm (Pre-school and recreational) (job begins 29/03/2020)

Joining Birmingham Gymnastics Academy will enable you to coach gymnastics in a fun, caring and positive learning environment. You will have the pleasure of helping each gymnast fulfil their potential and to develop a love of gymnastics. 

We are offering you the chance to join our friendly coaching team who are committed to our gymnasts. This coaching position will suit an ambitious coach keen to use their ideas and experience to develop their gymnastics coaching skills. As a gymnastics coach at Birmingham Gymnastics Academy you will be an extremely important member of our team. You will benefit from a close working relationship with an experienced coaching team who are keen to see you succeed; they will support you in all areas of your development to enable you to flourish.

Vacancy Description
Main Duties: 
Gymnastics coach
Teaching planned gymnastics lessons.
Helping gymnasts to develop and have high standards and expectations of gymnasts 
Liaising with parents/carers
Developing your knowledge, understanding and expertise in the field of gymnastics
Undertake further training as required e.g. first aid, safeguarding, protecting children
Help set up and dismantle equipment for each session
Complete health and safety and risk assessment checks as required
Attendance all coaches meetings
Developing your knowledge, understanding and expertise in the field of gymnastics
Demonstrating high standards, expectations and professionalism
Follow British Gymnastics guidelines and promote the principles of BGA
Maintain Health and Safety standards, policies and procedures
To undertake other appropriate duties as required in accordance with the general nature of the post
Reliability and dependability is essential

Qualification Required 
Minimum of Level 1 Gymnastics Qualification.

Skills Required
In this role you will need to be:
Communicating and providing feedback to parents and/or carers at the end of each gymnastics session
Show enthusiasm and passion for the sport of gymnastics
Be well organised
Enhanced DBS checked (on application)
Hold a Safeguarding and Protecting Children Certificate (Sports Coach UK or British Gymnastics accredited)
First Aid qualification and preferably paediatric First Aid training (upon successful application)
Competent user of IT systems including word and excel
Good literacy skills
If you do not hold a driving licence you must be able to access your venues of work using public transport
