England Assistant National Coach WAG - Contract for Services

England Gymnastics are looking for two England Assistant National Coaches for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) on a Contract for Service.

The role of the England Assistant National Coach for Women’s Artistic Gymnastics (WAG) is to assist the England Lead National Coach with the technical and practical delivery of the programme. The programme delivery is fully aligned to the GBR WAG Performance Pathway Programme and is focussed around maximising the potential and providing a positive developmental experience for all England gymnasts and their personal coaches selected onto the programme, assisting with their progression up the Pathway. 

Key Work Areas to include 

1. Training and Preparation – Coach on the England Camp Programme 

  • Assist with the gymnast/parent 1-1 programme inductions 
  • Asist with the delivery, review and coach/gymnast feedback after each camp 
  • Assist with mentoring and guidance of the personal coaches 
  • Assisting with the delivery during the 4 England Camps based at various locations across the UK:
  • 2nd-3rd July 2022 at Lilleshall National Sports Centre 
  • Camps 2-4 TBC 
  • Possibility of assisting with the following International Events: 
  • Leverkusen Cup in Germany – 23rd-25th September 2022 
  • Northern Europeans in Finland – 18th-20th November 2022 
  • Further competitions TBC 

2. Programme Curriculum Development 

  • Coaches will be involved in the development of annual programme content under the guidance of the England Lead National Coach, Performance Pathway Manager and England Talent Officer. 
  • Assist with the provision of operational programme information and feedback reports to review the England WAG programme activities to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of the squad programme. 

3. Continued Professional Development 

  • As part of ongoing CPD, this role will be expected to be available for any opportunities that may be offered to shadow GBR National Coaches 

 Key Attributes  

  • HPC Coach 
  • Medal-producing background at a domestic level and have competitors within the last cycle who have represented England or a competing nation at an international level 
  • Knowledgeable and familiar with the domestic and international competitive rules, and able to guide the personal coaches as required 
  • Highly motivated, able to support and encourage coaches and gymnasts to produce at international level 
  • Able to help assist the England Lead National Coach to coach gymnasts at different ages and stages of their gymnastics development 
  • Assist the England Lead National Coach to mentor coaches at different stages of their gymnastics development 
  • Excellent ‘people skills’ and be able to encourage, motivate and help lead all involved in the development and support of gymnasts 

Additional Requirements  

  • Current enhanced DBS 
  • Valid Safeguarding and Child Protection
  • Current full British Gymnastics Membership
