Scottish Championships 2012

amy_reaganBnewwebOn the 18th and 19th February the Scottish Championships took place at the Bells Sports Centre in Perth. In the senior women’s category Amy Regan from the City of Glasgow had a clean sweep taking all five medals, winning not only the all-around but all four apparatus finals, with a total score of 48.00. In the all-around she was followed by Megan Slater of Fife Gymnastics, with Jessie Smith from Garioch in third.

Cara Kennedy from the City of Glasgow took the junior title, with Emily Ford from Perth taking the Espoirs.

With the absence of world number one and 2011 all-around champion Daniel Purvis in the men's senior competition, the title was up for grabs. Tom Barnes from Rushmoor took the all-around gold, with Ryan Mckee from the City of Glasgow in silver and Ross Soutar of Beacon in third. World medallist Daniel Keatings took part in the Championships but only competed on three of the six apparatus. He did however win the gold on all three; the pommel, high bar and p-bars.

There were just two competitors in the men’s junior category; Finlay Clarke took the title, just .350 ahead of West Lothian’s James Griffin.
