This National Performance Pathway Coaching Clinic will take place in the South West Region, which is an Introductory Level Clinic.
Introduction to the Elite Compulsory Pathway covering all of the routines and elements that are required at Level 4. The new standardised content will only cover the specific level that has been advertised giving coaches the opportunity to learn, take notes and experience what it takes to produce a gymnast that is capable of competing at the highest level of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics in Britain for the particular age group.
Below is a brief overview of some particular skills that will be covered during the session, more information on routine construction, specific deductions and guidance can be found in the Elite Compulsory Routine Booklet available to download from the BG website:
• Vault- Running drills, transition work, straight front somersaults
• Bars- Upstart and cast, heel driven swings and backward giants
• Beam- Backward walkover and flick to 1, Basic leap and spin preparation
• Floor- Round off, multiple flicks along with handspring connections
• Range and Conditioning- Handstands, flexibility and specific strength elements needed for future progression along the pathway
The High Performance Qualified tutor will provide key technical information for each individual element alongside showing suitable and safe progression on how to build the elements, specific physical preparation ideas and in some instances teaching particular hand spotting skills for the candidates to try.
The clinic is open to all coaches who have/working towards their Level 1 coaching qualification.
