Things to note

This online course is a fresh approach to safeguarding in sport and is designed for those who have previously attended a face to face Safeguarding course. The Online safeguarding refresher provides information and good practice guidelines to renew your existing child protection knowledge to ensure that you remain confident in recognising the signs of abuse, reporting concerns and protecting children from harm.

The course covers:

  • The differences between safeguarding and child protection
  • The current legislation and good practices that apply to working with children
  • How to recognise children’s welfare issues and signs of abuse
  • The benefits and risks of digital communications
  • Reporting concerns

  • You will have the opportunity to refresh your knowledge with important information and legislation. Through various scenarios, you will be able to consolidate your understanding and there is a quiz to conclude the learning activity. Once complete, your award will remain valid for three years.

To be eligible for this course you must be over 18. If you are a coach, welfare officer or in another role which requires you to maintain your safeguarding qualification, then you must complete an online refresher within 3 years of completing a face-to-face course and every three years thereafter to be eligible to renew your annual British Gymnastics membership.

The online refresher can be accessed through the British Gymnastics Academy once your payment has been completed. We will send you a link to the course by email once your enrolment is completed.
