This course will qualify you be an assistant coach for freestyle gymnastics. 

Freestyle is an exciting discipline to coach. Participants perform amazing flips, jumps and vaults. You will be interested in pushing boundaries and experimenting with new and interesting moves. You will support participants in the safe development of a variety of skills within the confines of a gymnastics environment.  You get to work with both male and female participants, and mixed age groups.

You will already have completed a UKCC Level 1 award in any discipline except Pre-School.

Who is this Aimed at:

Coaches and Teachers who hold a British Gymnastics coach/teachers qualification who wish to assist freestyle sessions within their club. See pre-requisites for further details.

What To Expect:

An informative course around the basics of freestyle, how it differentiates from traditional gymnastics and the technical syllabus.

Delivery Method:

3 hours - 1 hour Theory, 2 hours Practical.

Do I Need To Bring Participants:

No, learners will be invited to participate in demonstrations and activities during the course. Please notify the course tutor if you are unable to participate.

Do I Need To Find A Mentor:

No mentor is required for this course.

Price:

£52 for British Gymnastics members (£88 for non BG members). 

Outcomes:

At the end of the course learners will be able to:

  • Provide information about freestyle
  • Explain how it differentiates from a traditional gymnastics class
  • Highlight the key parts and roles of a level 1 coach
  • Introduce some of the basic movements most commonly associated with the activity

Learner must be at least 16 years old on the first day of the course
