Who is this Aimed at:

Existing high performance coaches wishing to develop their knowledge, skills and experience related to the environment and demands of international high performance sport. The course is also aimed at aspiring young performance coaches willing to improve their competence in pursuit of excellence and mastery.

Pre Requisites:

  • Qualified through BG Coaching Education Programme (min. Level 2/SCC)
  • Emerged via Performance Sport routes (Discipline specific)
  • Identified and endorsed by the Head Coaches or Head of disciplines as potential National Coaches and/or Personal Coaches associated with gymnasts eligible to represent Great Britain in Tokyo 2020 and/or beyond

What To Expect:

An informative course based on observation and thorough analysis of international high performance coaching.

Delivery Method:

The course consists of the following structure:

  • 3 theory weekends
  • Additional days:

  • Individual development days (2 days) – decided between the programme manager and the mentee
  • Individual training days (2 days) – decided between the programme manager and the mentee
  • Optional individual skill gaps (1 day) - decided between the programme manager and the mentee
  • Do I Need To Bring Participants:

    • Theory days: Participants are not required
    • Individual development days: Decided between the programme manager and the mentee
    • Individual training days: Decided between the programme manager and the mentee

    Outcomes:

    By the end of the course you will be able to:

    • Develop non-technical coaching knowledge and skills through: 
      • A programme specific Instructional System Design – Competency progress, Sequential exposure and intervention, Tracked 360° Feedback, Evaluated performance outcome
    • Create an Individualised Development Plan (IDP) via a robust Performance Analysis – Motivation, Environment, Selection, Training based on: 
      • Needs Assessment – Business, Performance, Training, Individual
      • Four Level Evaluation Model – Reaction, Training, Performance, Impact
    • Create a framework to allow effective and measurable CPD (Profiling)
    • Encourage various future development routes (Performance Coaching, Academic, etc.)
    • Develop the discipline specific know-how (technical coaching skills) via ‘on the job’ training (National Squads environment) and close observation of the national coaching staff
