After successful completion of this course and assessment you will be able to support participants working towards more advanced competitions. You will be able to coach participants in various twisting double somersaults, and will understand the physical preparation required to successful develop these skills.

You will also understand the relevant coaching theory that will assist you to be effective in your role as a Performance Coach.

Who is this Aimed at:

Level 3 coaches that are supporting participants working towards more senior competitions.

Coaches must complete an application process to be accepted onto the course.

What To Expect:

An informative course focusing on both the theoretical and technical aspects of how to support gymnast and skill progress, how to physically prepare participants for the skills covered within the syllabus, and how to work effectively as a coach at the Performance level.

Delivery Method:

Practical and classroom based. The number of days will vary from course to course; see application stage for further details.

Do I Need To Bring Participants:

You will need to bring 1 participant.

Do I Need To Find A Mentor:

Yes a mentor is required. Your mentor should be a coach of the same level or higher and the same discipline.

What Resources Are Included:

Logbook, course specific resource pack and common core resource pack.

Outcomes:

By the end of the course learners will understand:

  • Technical skills from the syllabus
  • The competition structure and the judging involved at various levels
  • How to prevent injuries
  • What the coaching process is and the psychology involved
  • Nutritional advice for participants and good practice during training

Learner must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course

  • Learner must hold one of the following awards:
  • Trampolining - Club Coach AND Theory - The Coaching Process AND Club Development - Anti doping education
  • Trampolining - Level 3 Certificate in Coaching Gymnastics - Club Coach AND Theory - The Coaching Process AND Club Development - Anti doping education
  • Trampolining - Level 4 Certificate In Coaching Gymnastics - Senior Coach AND Theory - The Coaching Process AND Club Development - Anti doping education
  • Trampolining - Level 3 Coach Cycle 6 AND Theory - The Coaching Process AND Club Development - Anti doping education
  • Trampolining - Senior Club Coach AND Theory - The Coaching Process AND Club Development - Anti doping education

Syllabus:

  • 1. ½ in ½ out
  • 2. Full in ½ out
  • 3. Rudy out
  • 4. Back in Full out
  • 5. ½ out ball out

Assessment Method:

Practical assessment:

  1. Coach to plan for all 5 skills on the syllabus. Plans should demonstrate all progressions, technical and psychological preparations, and safe supports. At the start of the practical assessment a Professional Discussion will take place between the assessor and coach to establish which 3 of the 5 skills will be demonstrated in the assessment. Each of the full skills must be shown by at least one gymnast. You should be prepared if required to show preparations and progressions for the remaining two skills.
  2. The coach will be expected to show a gymnast’s current competitive routine
  3. The coach should be prepared to discuss the planning for the gymnast(s)
  4. The coach will be required to answer questions, give evidence on the gymnasts’ competitive and training journey, highlighting and explaining any difficulties encountered and how they were managed

Sport-specific and Common Core Theory papers.

Practical – including planning and delivering a practical session including the skills from the skills matrix.

Theory – including sport specific and common core written papers (2 hours per paper).

Logbook – including a range of tasks relating to both practical and theory aspects of the course.

When Is My Assessment:

Regular theory and assessment opportunities will be provided throughout the calendar year and candidates must book onto these opportunities within the 2 year registration period. If you are unable to attend these please contact your course organiser. Any assessment organised without the consent from British Gymnastics will not be valid.
