Positive Coaching

This course focuses on your role as a coach in the safe and positive development of your participants. It explores the development of belief systems, in particular your beliefs about success and failure, and how these impact you and your participants. Lastly, the course provides detail on strategies you can use to understand your beliefs and ensure you are positive in your coaching.

This eLearning course is compulsory for British Gymnastics member coaches who hold a UKCC Level 2 (or equivalent) or above in any gymnastics discipline. It must be completed once and must be completed before you renew your membership. If you are not a member please visit our website to explore our membership options.

New for 2024 - Welfare Officers can also access this as an exclusive piece of CPD. Though not compulsory, British Gymnastics advocate this to support people in this role to create uplifting experiences for all.

Who is this Aimed at:

This eLearning course is compulsory if you hold a UKCC Level 2 (or equivalent) or above in any gymnastics discipline.

If you are a Welfare Officer, you may access this course as part of your continuous professional development.

Outcomes:

After successful completion of this eLearning course, you will be able to:

  1. Identify the challenges you face as a coach.
  2. Describe your key coaching responsibilities.
  3. Recognise how different beliefs about success and failure impact your and your participants’ thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and your coach-participant relationship.
  4. Identify your goal orientation and how it impacts your coaching.
  5. Describe a variety of positive coaching strategies.
  6. Apply the knowledge gained to evaluate your coaching and create suitable action plans to ensure you are positive in your coaching.

What To Expect:

This course includes:

  • eLearning: You will have access to eLearning modules that explore the challenges you face as a coach, how different beliefs about success and failure impact you and your participants, and a variety of strategies you can use to ensure you are positive in your coaching. Each module provides an approximate time for completion and if you need to take a break the eLearning will save your progress.

It will take approximately 90 minutes to complete this course.

Do I Need To Bring Participants:

No, this course is eLearning only. You just need a quiet place. If you are in a public area you might want to use headphones as the eLearning has audio.

Do I Need To Find A Mentor:

There is no requirement for a mentor to complete this course.
