Positive Coaching

This course focuses on your role as a coach in the safe and positive development of your participants. It explores the development of belief systems, in particular your beliefs about success and failure, and how these impact you and your participants. Lastly, the course provides detail on strategies you can use to understand your beliefs and ensure you are positive in your coaching.

This eLearning course is exclusive to and compulsory for British Gymnastics member coaches who hold a UKCC Level 2 (or equivalent) or above in any gymnastics discipline.

Who is this Aimed at:

This eLearning course is compulsory if you hold a UKCC Level 2 (or equivalent) or above in any gymnastics discipline.

Outcomes:

After successful completion of this eLearning course, you will be able to:

  1. Identify the challenges you face as a coach.
  2. Describe your key coaching responsibilities.
  3. Recognise how different beliefs about success and failure impact your and your participants’ thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and your coach-participant relationship.
  4. Identify your goal orientation and how it impacts your coaching.
  5. Describe a variety of positive coaching strategies.
  6. Apply the knowledge gained to evaluate your coaching and create suitable action plans to ensure you are positive in your coaching.

What To Expect:

This course includes:

  • eLearning: You will have access to eLearning modules that explore the challenges you face as a coach, how different beliefs about success and failure impact you and your participants, and a variety of strategies you can use to ensure you are positive in your coaching. Each module provides an approximate time for completion and if you need to take a break the eLearning will save your progress.

• This eLearning course is exclusive to and compulsory for British Gymnastics member coaches who hold a UKCC Level 2 (or equivalent) or above in any gymnastics discipline. It must be completed once and must be completed before you renew your membership
• Accessible once you enrol via Academy
• Three eLearning modules

Do I Need To Bring Participants:

No, this course is eLearning only. You just need a quiet place. If you are in a public area you might want to use headphones as the eLearning has audio.

Do I Need To Find A Mentor:

There is no requirement for a mentor to complete this course.

Price:

This course is only available to British Gymnastics, Welsh Gymnastics, and Scottish Gymnastics members.

Learner must be at least 18 years old on the first day of the course

  • The challenge of coaching.
  • Goal orientations and their impacts on coaches and participants.
  • Motivational climate and how coaches can use it as a strategy to positively impact participants.
  • Positive coaching strategies.

Assessment method:

There is no formal assessment for this course, but you must complete all eLearning modules and get 70% or more on the knowledge check at the end of Module 3.
