Our junior women’s team of Annie Young, Halle Hilton and Ondine Achampong won a brilliant bronze medal on day two of the 2019 European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The team scored 103.850 to secure a place on the podium, behind Romania in second and Russia in first.
The team final also doubled up as qualification for the individual all-around and individual apparatus finals. Ondine (52.150) and Halle (51.200) both successfully qualified for the all-around final in third and seventh place. Annie finished in ninth place with 51.000 but missed out due to the two per country limit rule.
Ondine and Halle also have finals to look forward to on beam, as they qualified in first and second; Ondine scoring 13.450 to take top spot, with Halle just behind with 13.350 in second.
All-around Silver for Ondine
Ondine Achampong has won a superb all-around silver medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Having qualified in third place, Ondine was at her best to score 52.950 to win her second medal of the Festival, having helped the team to bronze the day before.
Also competing in the all-around final for GB was Halle Hilton who did well to finish in 8th place with 50.400.
Ondine scored consistently well across the apparatus, scoring 13.600 on vault, 13.250 on uneven bars, 13.200 on beam, before finishing on floor with 12.900 to confirm her silver medal.
On Saturday, Ondine and Halle will go for medals in the beam final.
