This month, we wanted to shine a light on the amazing Leadership Academy of Spirals Gymnastics Club. After only developing their Leadership Academy in September 2019, the club has seen 12 young leaders start their journey and get stuck in with projects, shadowing and workshops.
The team of young leaders have been so engaged from day one. They are responsible for taking it in turns to co-deliver the meetings with their Captain and they schedule to meet every couple of months.
They are now just about to start working on ‘My Project’ to deliver the inhouse recreational competition in July. Sophie, one of the young leaders told us why she’s enjoying the programme so much. "It really helps me build confidence and I now see gymnastics from another perspective. I am enjoying the opportunities it is bringing!"
Julie, the Captain of the Leadership Academy, is also really pleased with the way the young leaders have taken on the additional responsibility, many of whom are fitting in the volunteering alongside their own training schedule. Julie said: "We have seen an excellent start to the programme with the young leaders showing their passion to learn and shadowing our more experienced coaches. They have completed training courses, helped out at our Christmas parties and competitions and they were due to volunteer at the Artistic British Championships in April too!"
Great work on all your efforts so far! We all look forward to seeing how much you all progress over the next few years!
