It is with great sadness that we inform you that Elaine Wood died on 12th March 2022 of Covid 19.
Elaine became interested in gymnastics when she met Andy, her future husband, in 1985 when she was attending Watford College. She qualified as a coach and became a choreographer at Woodside Gym Club in Watford alongside Andy. She later qualified as a National Judge, a qualification she held for many years.
Elaine and Andy merged Woodside Club with Sapphire from 1994-1996 when they moved to Kings Lynn Gym Club and she continued with her judging and choreography until 2000. They were invited to work at Pipers Vale in Ipswich and stayed there until 2018 when they moved to Sudbury Gym Club.
She was diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) in 2018 which is a rare neurological condition which brought an end to her gymnastics involvement. Andy cared for her until he, too, died of Covid 19 in October last year.
Elaine was a great judge and choreographer and will be missed in the Eastern region.
Our thoughts are with her two daughters Tash and Chloe at this time.
