The first Qualification Series took place at Medway Park, Gillingham over the weekend of 7th/8th April.
Building up to the first event of the year, and the first National event of the year, was a privilege and quite nervous for the group of volunteers who commit their time to create this competition format and structure. During the weekend, the competition floor saw 465 competitors from almost 60 English TRA and DMT Clubs.
The competition saw the biggest entry we have had for the first English Qualification event, seeing people attend from all over the country and showing good quality standards across the board. The competition saw, for the first time ever, Disability Trampolining introduced. Apologies should be given about the time they were on and this has been adjusted for Qualification 2.
The competition had a new Judge Co-ordinator in place - Steve Sampson - who took over from Yasmin Stammers this year. English Gymnastics would like to thank all the Judges for their professional work during the weekend and for volunteering - without you, the competition would not run. Steve did an exceptional job and the competition ran only 10 minutes over on the Saturday and 1 hour ahead on the Sunday.
Coaches - may I express my thanks to you all for the hard work you do to get the gymnasts ready for competition. May I say personally that you have all done an exceptional job. Coaches are the forgotten souls on the competition floor, but without you, we would have no competition - so thank you again for your hard work and for coming along and taking part in our competition series.
Thanks also go to the scorers and tech guys/girls, who once again kept the competition moving. From Marshals, to door staff, to March-On Marshals - all worked hard all day to make sure everything went as smooth as possible. Thanks to Gymdata for all the work they have done for us during the weekend.
Thank you and well done to every competitor that took part throughout the weekend - congratulations and we hope that you had an enjoyable experience.
At the end of the weekend, selections were made for the England Team going out to Frivolten Cup from those England TRA and DMT Squad members who competed. Congratulations to all those who have been selected for the first England Squad competition in many, many years. I wish you all luck at the competition.
To finish, I thought the competition was a lot of fun, with great quality throughout. The DMT competition was very well attended and produced some excellent competition. Mixed Synchronised for our 9-12 year olds worked well and we hope more Clubs will take up the Synchronised competition over the coming years.
