After two successful years at City of Newcastle’s Benfield gym, the competition this year moved down the road to the Walker Activity Dome and a new host club, North East Gymnastics Academy.

The morning round was for full teams competing at  Levels 2 and 3 and the Disability Micro teams.  Youth Level 3 was won by City of Newcastle White team, with North East Gymnastics in second place and the Junior Level 3 competition was won bya very well prepared team from Harrogate Gymnastics Club. North East Gymnastics Academy took the Level 2 gold medal with Leeds Esprit in the silver medal place. City of Newcastle Black Team and City of Newcastle Junior Level 2 team put on a great perfrmance to win both the Open section gold medals.

In the Disability section, Leeds Esprit Men were the winners, putting on a real perfromance  for the audience with some excellent tumbling and trampette work. The Leeds Disability teams have made excellent progress in the last few years. Their confidence and skill level has risen each year and they are a real credit to the Club’s dedicated coaching team.

The afternoon session was devoted to Level 4 teams in various age categories. Northern Hope won the Junior competition while another local team, Gateshead TG took silver in the Open Age section, behind a very strong and skillful team from Milton Keynes.   Tyneside Green tied for first place with Leeds Esprit in a very competitive Youth Level 4 section, with Tyneside Silver team in silver medal position. The competition of the day was the Primary Challenge and another tie for first place between North East Gymnastics Academy and Richmondshire. Tyneside put on a strong challenge to finish second with Leeds Esprit in bronze medal position.  Once agan, an acomplished performance from City of Newcastle put them in the gold medal position in the Open competition.

The event was very well suppoted by a large and enthusiastic audience and a team of brilliant volunteers from North East Gymnastics Academy.
