subheading-about

British Gymnastics is the UK National Governing Body for Gymnastics and a not- for- profit organisation dedicated to developing levels and quality of gymnastics provision.

Gymnastics is considered by many to be the foundation for land based sports and as such helps children develop the agility, balance and co-ordination required for other sports and, indeed for life. It was therefore a natural step for British Gymnastics to work with education specialists on an early years programming combining the development of physical, social and emotional skills.

British Gymnastics was founded in 1888 as the British Amateur Gymnastics Association. and is a member of the World Governing Body (FIG), the European Governing Body (UEG), the British Olympic Association (BOA) and the Central Council of Physical Recreation (CCPR).

Gymnastics is an accessible and inclusive sport that encourages an active and healthy lifestyle. Interest in the sport has never been stronger and hundreds of thousands of young gymnasts enjoy gymnastics at school, in leisure centres, and in registered clubs up and down the country.
