National Talent Development Programme
The British Gymnastics national talent development programme and was launched in 2013 following an increase in Sport England talent funding as a resut of the 2012 London Olympic Games, with the goal of increasing the size and the quality of the country's talent pool.
In order to achieve this, the National Talent Development has focused on the development of gymnasts through increasing training opportunities and coaches through increasing CPD opportunities.
The programme caters for eight of the gymnastic disciplines and has taken a phased approach for it's roll out a follows:
- 2013-2014 Men's and Women's Artistic
- 2014-2015 Trampoline and Acrobatics
- 2015-2016 Tumbling and Rhythmic
- 2016-2017 Disability and Aerobics
The National Talent Development Programme is very specific to the needs of the discipline whilst ultimately focusing on developing High Performance gymnasts on their journey to World Class success.
