London Rhythmic Gymnasts were in the Zone!

On Saturday the Zone A Rhythmic Grades competition was held in Canterbury and the gymnasts from London made very clear that they are ruling in this discipline.

With thanks to Carlota Viguer who let London Gymnastics know about the outstanding achievements of our Clubs.

In the Grade 5 section Julia Cepulyte from LSA took first overall with Erika Abalhanova from Devotion picking up the Silver.

Grade 6 gymnast, Leyla Yilmaz from Elite Gymnastics, took Gold in the overall. Her team mate, Erika Kuregenov took Silver with her hoop routine and Marfa Ekimova from A&V won the Silver in the overall competition.

In the Grade 7 section Milda Lepaite, from Elite Gymnastics Academy, won the first place overall and was also crowned the U12 zone A champion with Clara Angus Lane from Hendon winning an apparatus Silver and Leyla Yilmaz taking bronze taking Bronze overall. Elite gymnast, Rachel Allen took a bronze medal with her magnificent ball routine.

Gymnasts from London competing in the grade 8 section shared the podium and medals with Azra Dewan from Elite Gymnastics taking 4 gold medals. Adelina Abazhieva and Arina Pavlova, also from Elite, took two silvers and one bronze and two Bronzes respectively. Milana Hazar from Devotion made the podium on two occasions.

In the Grade 9 section, judges, gymnasts and audience were witness to the most glorious titanic fight of the last few years. Christiana Vitanova, Alida Bogdanova and Amaranta Chavez from Elite with Hannah Martin from Devotion all had the capability and experience to medal. Their performances were of a very high standard and those lucky enough to be there thoroughly enjoyed the excitement and quality of the routines. The overall podium was made up by Christiana in first position and Hanna and Alida in 2nd and 3rd respectively. Amaranta Chavez got a silver medal in the clubs section. This quartet look set to battle for the next few years, an exciting time for this discipline.

Well done to the coaches Daniela Balova (Devotion), Eva Balova and Carlota Viguer (Elite), Alina Grigorescu (Hendon) and Kristina Ondon (LSA) your dedication to our sport is paying off!
The Grade 1-4 & 10 competition was also very successful for London Rhythmic Gymnastics Clubs and we look forward reporting on that part of the competition once the results are in.

London Gymnastics Rhythmic Chair, Rebecca Bunce who was judging at the event told us;
"The talent within London has grown and grown and now our gymnasts are succeeding at all levels. This was shown with the results from the recent Zonal grades where we won many medals and titles across all of the age groups. Well done to all"
