There was success on and off the gymnastics floor at the recent 2013 Artistic Gymnastics World Championships as Great Britain's Beth Tweddle MBE was successfully voted on to the prestigious FIG Athletes' Commission.
The FIG Athletes' Commission features six gymnasts, who have been voted in by their peers to contribute to the development of the sport. Beth was in the running for the women’s artistic post alongside the USA’s Alicia Sacramone and Angelina Kysla of Ukraine
Beth said: “It’s a huge honour to be voted in by fellow gymnasts and I’m determined to work as hard as possible to help create the best environment for them to excel in the future. I have a lot of experience of major events across the world and know how important it is for the conditions and processes to be right for the gymnasts in order for them to have the best competitions. I look forward to working with the current gymnasts, taking on their ideas and feeding them back to FIG.”
Beth joins the re-elected Jani Tanskanen (FIN) who will represent respectively the female and male artistic gymnasts within the Athletes’ Commission of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) for the period 2013 – 2016.
